Manzil's is my local curry restaurant, I like it, and go there pretty regularly. Welcome is always good, it's well laid out and settings are always with immaculately clean table clothes, good quality cutlery and crockery.
They have a Thursday / Sunday evening special deal ; £7.95 for 3 courses, includes starter, main (with accompaniments) and coffee or ice cream. Choice is slightly limited compared to main menu, but for the price it's a good deal.
So went last night, party of 2, and for mid January, it was pretty busy. I'd say there are no more than 30 seats, and probably 20 people were in there, despite being early. Starters were good, chicken tikka (served on a sizzler plate) and Mushroom bhajis, although the core of the bhajis was a bit soggy. Mains - lamb dhansak and chicken korma, with naan bread and chipattis. Curries were both tasty, well spiced, and good portions, although there was a lot of sauce in both dishes, and they could probably have done with a bit more meat (this has always been the case with Manzils, the meat tends to be in quite big chunks, but I always feel that there should be a bit more). Special note has to be made about the naan bread, beautifully light and crispy, perfectly cooked, one of the best i've tasted.
Price for 2 - with popadoms and pickle tray, but no alcohol) less than £20. Really can't go wrong with that !
