After a very disappointing visit to both Leeds and York City Art Galleries, I wasn't holding much hope on this visit being enjoyable. How wrong I could be. I'm not fan of modern art but this gallery as got the mix of traditional, modern and asian just right. As a fan of the Pre-Raphaelites was pleased to see a few on display here. I was disappointed that there was no gift shop to buy postcards and books but apart from that, a superb day out. Loved it.

Just been to Cartwright Hall which is a lovely art gallery inside Lister Park. Had a very pleasant visit looking at Bradford's lovely collection. Also saw a temporary exhibition of nail art by Marcus Levine which was amazing; will come back to see Hockney's Trees in October. The female staff on the reception desk was extremely pleasant and very helpful.

This art gallery is a special place to me as it is where my husband and I married 10 years ago. Since then Carwright Hall has been refurbished and some new works of art installed. There are also interactive displays which makes it interesting - even for children. My six year old grandson loved finding the works of art on the screens then going off to find them! The building itself is beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. When we visited this week were a mass of glorious colour, with the flower beds in full bloom. We didn't visit the cafe, but it is now open. We did go into the children's park - which we have done fairly regularly - as it's great for kids.
Anyone visiting Bradford should add this to their itinery.
