“New rooms, very clean and modern”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2009

Stayed over in Nov, rooms were very clean and recently refurbished. Staff were very helpful and the food was spot on (but not too expensive like some hotels!). It's not too big so feels a little more personal than the skyscrapers in city centres. Would recommend!

OUTSTANDING!
So after my god awful stay at the ETAP, I booked a room on-line with Best Western Guide Post Hotel at 0300 hrs.. Phoned to confirm, we checked out of the Etap at 7 am and made our way to the Guide Post to drop our luggage off. Whilst dropping off the bags the receptionist allowed us to check in to our room (at 7.30am!), and store all of the bags for our group. I have stayed here before and can say that without exception the standards are fantastic, the staff are friendly and accommodating at all hours of the day or night. We travelled with a dog and the receptionist knew his name!! Which I know is sad to mention, but it at least shows that staff note down individual details on your reservations profile for future repeat stays............... which is fantastic when it comes to other requirements. The room was spacious, bathroom was 10/10 for cleanliness everything was perfect. And even the housekeeper sweeping the front car park at seven in the morning was cheerful.

If you are looking for an independent hotel, within easy travel distance of Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and Leeds that is very dog friendly then this is the place to be. I have been here before and will be returning again and again. Well done to all the staff at the Best Western Guide Post. My dog loved it, laid on his fleece next to the radiator.

We arrived to find check in assistant on phone to friend and had to wait whilst he was conversing ( very rude).
It was August but the rooms were very cold, when I asked if we could have some heat we were told the heating is turned off for the summer, I eventually got a small fan heater.
The Iron was not working either.
We had a nice breakfast cooked to order but the staff kept walking through the restaurant with cups of coffee to drink at reception.( very unproffetional)
Located opposite a trading estate.
Ok for one night but thats about all

Stayed here for a Saturday night. Hotel is nothing special but is clean and bright and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is cooked to order although there is not a big choice. Food was good.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend whilst attending an event at the Cedar Court Hotel - we'd left it late to book and the Cedar Court was already full. We've stayed in a great many Best Westerns both in the UK and the US and had, until now, always found them to be of a high standard for a budget chain. This one was grubby, the furnishings were tired and worn, the beds uncomfortable and to cap it all they had wedding parties in the hotel on both the Saturday and Sunday nights with load music blaring until 01:00. Our room was immediately above the disco. They failed to mention this when we checked in or we'd have asked for a room at the end of the corridor. Building work was going on in the hotel. When we arrived there was an awful smell of some sort of cleaning product in the corridor and workmen were hammering away in the room next to ours. The hammering started up at 09:00 each morning including Easter Sunday. We couldn't understand why they'd located us in the room next door to the one being worked on when the hotel was obviously 3/4 empty. All in all a very poor choice. In contrast, the Cedar Court was clean and comfortable with plenty of parking spaces. If the Guide Post is one of Bradford's "finest hotels" (quote from their web site and promotional leaflet) then I'd hate to see the others.

After a fascinating visit to the Media Museum, free entry and free parking on Sundays, we made our way to the hotel. We were made very welcome by the receptionist, had a great Sunday lunch, and sat in the comfortable lounge to read the papers. Breakfasts are cooked to order and plentiful, and although we were a little late getting in we were still able to have some great sandwiches by the fire at lunchtime. The restaurant serves a really good dinner selection and the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Good food in a comfortable surrounding. Although we were only there for two nights the staff remembered who we were and our preferences at the bar, making us feel as though we were important to them. The rooms are comfortable standard rooms, but spotlessly clean and well maintained. We would be happy to stay again and recommend this hotel.

We spent a Friday night at the Guide Post at the end of May.
We found it to be a clean and quiet resting place for the night.
The room was relativley spacious, clean and well equiped,LCD tv etc...
We opted for breakfast the following morning and it was plentiful and substantial, however tressel table configuation made us feel like we were back at school..
Thought the Guide Post offered good value, however on a negative point... there ws no facility on this particular Friday evening for us at 10 o' clock to enjoy a drink at the bar due to two functions. It was reception or our room.We took drinks to our room but felt a residents bar should be a priority.
