“Change name and top notch buffett. Try it.”
Reviewed October 17, 2012 via mobile

It's now called U&Me 6 of us attended. 2 kids we was sat and drinks ordered. They arrived fast. Waiter overheard us say happy birthday to one of our party. And wow at the end of the meal out came all the team with a cheesecake and candles.
Crispy duck pancakes. King prawns Prawn toast crispy chilli beef. Spicy.... ! The rice was warm but hay. It was nice. We tried everything even had a sushi bar. And teriyaki grill. Squid beef chicken veg make all that fresh to order. Loads of fresh fruit. Massives wedges of water melon. And if you can not eat everything on plate ask for a doggie bag service. This team are good. We spent 100 quid with tip included. This is as good as Chinese buffetts get. A cheap as chips night out. We will he back to the new and funky place they call U&Me

“Paying alot for cold food and ignorant staff.”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

So, there were 5 of us visiting this Chinese restaurant, now under new ownership 'U & ME'.
The selection was varied, however, cold. So much MSG in the food that you could hardly eat a plate worth.
We ordered 2 jugs of tap water. As students that's always a cheap option.
When the bill came, we noticed they had added £4 for the tap water. We were horrified and as soon as we got the bill we spoke to the manager explaining that it was illegal for them to charge us for the tap water, the managers argument was that she was putting the £4 on the bill as the service charge.

We decided we would pay on card and make sure that we were only paying for our meals (£13 each).. When it came to the last one of us to pay, she said that will be £17. I stepped in and explained that we would not be paying for the tap water and definitely not the service charge as service charge is optional for a party of less than 8. The lady who once appeared to be the manager, arguing with my friend then explained that she would need to get the manager to authorise this. She then walked around aimlessly trying to find this so called manager.. only to return to us and explain that she would take it off our bill, but the next time we returned we would have to pay for our drinks..
yes, that's right, the next time.. well as there will be no next time, she will not be getting any more of my hard earned cash.

Good luck!

“Very Poor”
Reviewed December 24, 2011

We have eaten here several times and also taken advantage of the free delivery service they offer. Unfortunately, on 2 occasions they have got our order wrong which is very frustrating when you sit down to eat and discover this. Upon telephoning the restaurant they did offer to send the correct item round but we had already waited over an hour so declined. They are very optimistic in their specified delivery times i.e. 40 minutes but the food never arrives within an hour. This area is crammed with chinese, thai and other oriental restaurants and I strongly advise against the fortune inn, it is overpriced and service rather poor. Also, they are the only restaurant that ive ever heard of who actually add a fee onto the bill should you wish to pay by card, regardless of the bill amount! Absurd and arrogant. Avoid!

“Quality & Choice”
Reviewed May 1, 2011

We ate in the evening so I cannot comment on the lunchtime buffet. Our party consisted of myself, my wife and 11 year old son.

The service was impeccable, the restaurant was very clean and the food was amazing. Excellent choice of starters, main courses and desserts and despite repeated visits to the food area there was not a crumb left on our plates. If we are ever down in this area again we will certainly eat here again.

“Very poor service!”
Reviewed August 27, 2010

We have been to this restaurant several time and had enjoyable meals. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming before but not today. the waitress that turned up to show us to a table just looked at me and waited for me to say 'a table for 2 please'. once we sat down she just stood there and waited for us to ask for drinks, never asking us what we'd like to drink. We ordered drinks and then went up to get a plate of food. our soft drinks didn't turn up until we had almost finished our plates which was very poor, especially when the restaurant wasn't even a quarter full, the staff just seemed to dawdle around and we actually had to ask for our drinks for a second time before they actually turned up. there was never a single please orthank you from the staff that waited on our table and the dishes that people had finished with were being cleared and stacked noisily at the side of the bar with the 'waste' bucket clearly on show to everyone....not very nice!

We used to like this place but it has gone sadly downhill and in future we will be visiting other similar style restaurants in the town. the only saving grace for this place was the price...£5.90 for all you can eat, but we would rather pay a bit more and go to a place where the staff know what 'customer service' means.
