Arriving at 0810 last Sat the ambience was dull cold and uninviting. Attempting to find a warmer spot for our 96yrs old friend we attempted to sit at the back but were ushered to the front of the bar as apparently service was not available in that area. There was also cleaning and a hoover in evidence at that time. As we did not want to sit in a cold window area we left the establishment and probably will never return. This was a very disappointing experience as there are few restaurants offering breakfast before 0900

We previously ate here and were so impressed by their home-made burger and hand cut chips, that we took my parents out to lunch. This time around the portion sizes were tiny. So much so that we were hungry and had to eat more at home.

The fire wasn't lit properly and was extremly smokey the whole time we were there, which made it unpleasant and dark.

Seems that if you stick to fish and chips or burger and chips you are ok. We had pork ribs - only 4 ribs presented - looked more like starter size, roast duck, fish rice dish and roast pork belly. The food was tasty but way undersized.

Best to wait for warmer weather, eat outside fish or burger only - but we can get fantastic fish and chips at home, so we wouldn't take a trip out for this.............. such a shame!

Having not been for a while, 3 of us ate on a Saturday evening in this busy pub/restaurant. Service is courteous and on time and the food was of good (but not excellent) quality. My husband chose fish and chips which we've enjoyed there before, but he found it a little too greasy on this occasion. Mum-in-law and I fared better with our choices, both enjoying our main courses. They reported their creme brulee desserts as enjoyable but a bit lacking in sugar crust, while I had a hot chocolate. A rather plain/cheap hot choc for the price, but acceptable nonetheless. Overall this a pub that is worth eating at and could be really excellent with a little more attention to detail. We've had the Sunday carvery and enjoyed that before. Atmosphere is good. A lot better than many in the area.

Seven of us went to the Fox and Hounds for the Sunday carvery and we were all very impressed. We are clearly not alone as the dining area was completely full and it was clear that most people, including several parties, had booked in advance. Most of us had the carvery which offered three roast meats, crispy roast potatoes and four different vegetables as well as sauces etc. Tasty food and excellent value. There was also a good choice of meals from the a la carte menu and the serving staff were good enough to tell us when the menu courses were just about to be served so that the others could go to the carvery and we could all eat at the same time. Nice thought! We didn't try the wine list but the real ales offered were excellent and I can recommend the 'tasting board' of three third-pints of different ales for those who can't make up their minds. Definitely the best Sunday carvery I have been to for some considerable time.
