Food: I've had lunch here just the once and it was very enjoyable. Liver, bacon and mash with vegetables and gravy, served piping hot. It was satisfying although the liver was a tad dry. I had expected the liver and bacon to be fried but it wasn't, this is more my fault for not checking first but it would have been helpful if they had given some clue first. Fried liver is delicious, the liver here was just OK. The rest of the menu was mostly old fashioned English fare, a little pricey but not overly so (my lunch was £7.95). There is the option of brunch. Their range of cakes here is wonderful, my favourite was the apricot slice.
Service: Friendly and helpful enough, non-intrusive.
Environment and atmosphere: The place was nice enough, clean with wood furniture. There are two rooms at the back that one can eat in, one with tablecloths and one without. I don't know what the difference is apart from that. As for atmosphere, it was very quiet but then it was a late lunch. Perhaps everything livens up in the evening?
