“Absolute Bliss!”
Reviewed November 29, 2010

We went for my birthday weekend and Lin and Ron made it absolutely special from start to finish. It is so comfortable there and welcoming - just like home from home. We would love to keep this place a secret but it's only fair to Lin and Ron to tell the world that if Chichester is your destination, then Rooks Hill is the only place to stay! The Lavant Suite is sumptuous and spacious with an extremely comfy bed . The only reason to get out of bed is to go down for the wonderful breakfast! Can't wait to return.

We stayed for two nights as my wife had a day course at the nearby West Dean college. From the moment we arrived we couldn't have been made more welcome.

The room we had was spacious with a huge super king size bed. Clean to even my wifes standards (difficult to achieve) with a lovely bathroom and power shower. A useful little fridge with fresh milk for the tea tray and complimentary bottled water.

Breakfast in the morning was a fine affair with a good selection of cereals/yoghurts and full English cooked to order. Even smoked salmon and scrambled egg on the menu.

Home backed bread and home made organic jam from the fruit trees in the garden. Just lovely.

We have stayed at several five star hotels up and down the country but Rooks Hill comes near the top of the list of even this competition.

Could not recommend highly enough. Thanks.

have just stayed at Rookshill guest House. Lynn was a fantastic hostess and her home is truly beautiful. Our room was lovely and as for the breakfast, I would go back for that alone!!

The area around is outstanding and Rookshill is central for Goodwood , Chichester etc.
Whilst staying you must try the Earl of March Pub across the road, fabulous food and pub staff who know how to make you feel welcome.

All in all a fabulous weekend.

After a dreadful journey we were greeted by Lin and shown into the guest lounge with a cosy fire for tea and shortbread...we knew we had made the right decision in our booking.
Our room was lovely. Crisp white linen, fresh flowers, toiletries, bottled water and a bedtime mint.
This was an excellent place to stay with friendly but unintrusive service. It has set a very high bar for any future breaks!

My wife and I spent three nights at Rookshill while visiting the Chichester area. From the warm welcome on arrival to the perfectly cooked breakfast on the day of our departure everything was just right. Well appointed rooms and bathrooms, attention to the little details make all the difference. Fresh flowers in the bedroom sum it all up. Lin and Ron, were always available to offer advice and assistance and were so friendly without being over the top. We have stayed at many B&Bs, mainly in the USA, Rookshill is right up there with the best. Excellent value for money as well.

My husband and I and my sister and partner stayed at Rooks Hill whilst visiting The Chilli Fiesta at West Dean Gardens.
We had The Arundel room downstairs at the front of the property which is a lovely large room with huge bed (can be twin beds if required). The ensuite had a shower cubicle with a power shower. The room is tastefully decorated with everything you could need. Lovely toiletries in the ensuite with fluffy towels. My sister had the Funtington room upstairs at the rear which again was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The ensuite had a P shaped bath with power shower over.
We were invited to use the guest lounge and the terrace at the rear as we wished. The lounge is lovely with plenty of magazines, books and local information to read whilst relaxing in the tranquil surroundings.

Breakfast is fabulous - full english, smoked salmon and eggs, kippers and lots of choice of cereals and fruit. The dining room overlooks the terrace at the rear and the Downs at the front.

Lin is a perfect hostess and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and places to eat etc.

We ate at the Earl of March opposite Rooks Hill and at The Royal Oak which is a 10 minute walk into the village. We felt the Earl of March just had the edge over The Royal Oak but both excellent and well worth a visit. Best to book well in advance for both though.

I would not hesitate to recommend Rooks Hill to everyone wanting a luxurious place to stay.

My Husband and I have just spent the most delightful weekend at this truely stunning B&B. We wanted luxury and peace and quiet and that is exactly what we got! We stayed in the Lavant Suite which was extremely spacious and the bed was large and comfy. Lin and Ron were the perfect hosts, and the breakfasts certainly set us up for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at this delightful house and hope to return again soon. It is in an ideal location for the surrounding areas and we were most impressed with the 'Earl of March' opposite, which Lin kindly booked for us on the Friday evening. On the Saturday, we ate at Trents in Chichester which again was very good. Anyone wanting a little taste of luxury, this B&B is a MUST!
