Owner description: Nestled in the spectacular Sussex countryside, surrounded by mature parklands, and home to the Dukes of Richmond for centuries, Goodwood House combines the glamour of a great English country house with the warmth of a family home. With an outstanding collection of art on display, the House is open to visitors from March to October.

Great for a walk - certainly if you are staying at the Goodwood House Hotel which is in the grounds of Goodwood House itself.

Goodwood House has a wonderful collection of Van Dyck paintings whihc are mainly situated in the ballroom. The entrance hall is imposing and the Egyptian room is fantastic. Thsi is one of my favourite places to visit.

Having visited Goodwood House for varying reasons over the years, I could not rate this highly enough!

The facilities are excellent and the their various events on site that include the Festival of Speed are superbly operated. Their team are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble to make your visit memorable. The House is stunning with adjacent golf course and lunch or dinner at their restaurant 'The Kennels' is not to be missed.

My husband and I booked the New Year's Eve package, staying at the Goodwood House Hotel first and then got transported to Goodwood House. On arriving at the House we had a look round and wanted to see some particular paintings and actually had to find someone to show us where they were hanging. That over we went into the dining room for dinner which was beautiful, then it started to go wrong. The starter potted brown shrimp and oak smoked salmon which was to heavy going for a starter, then warm parsnip and orange soup, very sweet, beef wellingtyon was ok but very dry, then it was called raspberry souffle which was quite big and sickly sweet. Music started in the background, there was no Master of Ceremonies to tell us what was happening. We wandered out into the main reception area where the piper was playing, outside sparklers were being lit and suddenly the lights were put out and the fireworks began which were excellent. I still feel sad that there was no countdown to the New Year and nobody had a chance to say 'Happy New Year' to anyone, again no Master of Ceremonies to tell us what was going on.

Goodwood House is a wonderful venue for all sorts of activities, but the best part for me is the history. A great place to walk around and absorb the atmosphere.
