Great first attempt at a new event with fantastic racing but some infrastructure issues needed sorting (sorry no bitter) and food too expensive (£3 for chips). F1 and Group B were nice ideas but didn't really come off as they could not demonstrate their full potential. If they sort out the issues and have the same quality of racing, then it could become a top 2 event in the Motorsport calendar. PS also very lucky with the weather, could have been a mud fest

“Fantastic motor-racing, aeronautics and theatre”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

We have just returned from a weekend of motor racing which formed the 72nd Members' Meeting (GRRC), inspired by our many previous visits to the Goodwood Revival, held annually in September.

The quality of everything at Goodwood is remarkable - such a huge amount of effort is put into an interesting, entertaining, stimulating, safe and above all fun day out. I am far from a 'petrol-head', rather married to one, but it is difficult not to be wowed by the cars, commentary and standard of driving and racing. Unlike most race circuits, here you can be up close to the track and wander before and after races past the entrants and their vehicles. Surrounded by knowledgeable and enthusiastic spectators, the resultant atmosphere is fantastic.

The circuit encompasses a WW2 airfield, still used for private/club planes and on event days special air displays are staged - here we have seen, for modern times, a record number of Spitfires in the sky at once, enveloping spectators with the throbbing sound of their Merlin engines. A walk around the track (which, one year, I somehow managed in 4" heels) provides an amazing perspective of the whole of the circuit and the Sussex Downs beyond.

The Goodwood team understand that not everyone wants to drool over cars for the whole day and so make a huge effort to provide for friends and (usually) ladies who are not complete enthusiasts, plus children and oldies. For public/ticketed events, they specialise in creating superb and innovative motor-related theatrical delights - we have even seen a 'Tour de France' re-creation of cyclists completing their lap, some complete with garlands of onions. There is lots of well-presented information to gain an amateur's insight, displays and exhibits, roving performers, rides, big screens, shopping, good food and drink (champers as well as beer), chill-out zones .... yes and there are plenty of loos, and not just for men.

The Revival is a massive and extraordinary pageant involving spectators dressing up to watch cars no older than 1966. Even the car park at this event is a mouth-watering exhibition in its own right. The race card is over three days and is hugely entertaining - the two-part St Mary's Trophy where plucky Minis race against gigantic Ford Galaxies being my favourite.
The recent GRRC Members' Meeting at the end of March was/is for members and their guests and possibly the best specialist event (and Saturday night party) I have ever been to.

“72 Members Meeting”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

A very good 2 days racing, nearly everywhere was open to the public which made it so much better. However the price of food is getting very expensive and the queues were really terrible, they had run of of beer at 6pm on the first day in the Great Hall. The display of member's cars in the car park was very good with a large cross section of interesting and valuable cars. Overall a great weekend

“Classic racing @ The Revival”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

Classic car racing at its best. See the cars from up-close. See the planes, enjoy the food, go shopping and the drown in the atmosphere. The Revival Meeting is about real racing historic cars. Festival of Speed is about showing modern race and rally cars, The Members meeting was a "private party" for GRRC members.
