“super lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

popped in for a quick lunch and it was amazing, service was very good and helpful, we had the duck cassoulet and crepe it was very good and moreish, bottled water on table a nice touch along with cloth napkins.adding 12.5% service charge was not expected as we always give 10% anyway, but would like a choice, The service given was very good so a tip would have been given anyway. will be eating here again as it was a enjoyable experience.

“Mid week meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Very enjoyable and tasty meal from a very reliable chain. As it is newly opened we were concerned there would still be some teething problems but service, especially our waitress Carlene, were attentive and pleasant. The steak was particularly good and perfectly cooked

We will certainly be going back!

“Excellent Value, Great Food, Service Could Be Better.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

I have visited twice since it opened on 28 Feb 13. The set menu for just over 9 pounds is excellent value for money and the food has been very well prepared on both occasions. It is very evident that the waiters are all almost brand new and the service is hit or miss and I have to say, not worth the 12pc service charge they automatically include in the bill. I have to agree with the previous point regarding the management standing around chatting, this seems to be the case and it is quite off putting. I will return as the place seems to have great potential and is perfectly situated in the centre of town.

“Great potential”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

Cote, Chichester has great potential, but a week in and there is still definitely room for improvement.
The food was generally very good, except one steak which was very over done and this was taken off the bill. Starters took 45 minutes, but one of the managers apologised for this and gave us a round of drinks on them to compensate, but the biggest disappointment was our waitress who was just completely uninterested in us and clearly seemed put out (this was noticed by all 4 of our party) at any of our requests..... Possibly a problem with an automatic 12.5% service charge put on the bill means a waiter/waitress forgets this is a tip based on service and not a full gone conclusion! - If we had not been with friends, we would would have asked this to have been taken off. I have eaten in Cote, Exeter on 4-5 occasions and never had a bad experience and so will give it another go in a few weeks, but just hope the front of house waiters/waitresses show as much interest and professionalism as the 2 or 3 managers on the floor.

“Interesting menu, good food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

Have been here twice for lunch since it opened about a week ago. The menu is uncompromisingly French, featuring dishes rarely seen in the UK outside London such as 'Cassoulet'. It's quite a large place and can be rather noisy due to all the hard surfaces. Prices are reasonable and the staff are really good. We enjoyed our meals (although one dish that my wife wasn't happy with was deducted from the bill) and will certainly return. Competition in Chichester is fierce and some of the other restaurants are going to find it tough.
