“Delightful Dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013

Excellent food, served attentively, in a light, airy and vibrant restaurant. 9 of us visited for Sunday Lunch. we were well cared for from the moment that we arrived by attentive but discrete staff. The menu was imaginative and varied. The three course lunch was well prepared and presented. The portions were generous without being overwhelming. Whilst I enjoyed each course, the desert was the highlight for me - a joy to behold and eat!!!

Great value for money for a delightful dining experience.

“A first class dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

My first visit to The Kennels, the restaurant for Goodwood racecourse, golf club and motor racing circuit - what a great setting! In the midst of the Earl of March's country estate, this dog-friendly restaurant combines the best of classicial and contemporary in the decor, the food and the service. I started with the Goodwood charcuterie, then Goodwood roast pork to follow. After a break, I ordered the panettone bread & butter pudding. Many of the ingredients could be seen in and around the fields, so the food mileage would be "less than one quarter of a mile". All fresh and delicious. Strongly recommended.

“Birthday dinner.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

Kennels ambiance amazing as usual, The Garden menu full of local delights. The bar staff did have an unfortunate accident with a bottle of Champagne, which covered us and the wall, and we were given a tea towel each to dry ourselves off, maybe an offer of a free drink while we dried off may had helped a little. Our food was just delightful from start to finnish. I only ever have one complaint which I am not sure if its the way the staff are trained but they never, ever ask if I would like another coffee or drink at the end of the meal, even if its not late ( which I would understand ) if it was , I like to go back through to the bar / sofa area to relax with a coffee , the staff then seem to disappear and the last three visits I have had to go to the front desk to pay the Bill. I still go back time after time so that must say something, just a little tweak and it will be perfect.

“A LONDON CLUB IN THE COUNTRY”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

This restaurant hits a rare bulls eye when it comes to the complete dining experience! Quintessentially English the building, the service and the setting would probably be enough to let an average meal be perfectly acceptable. That is not the "Goodwood Way", of course and the cuisine more than matches expectations with much of the food supplied by the Goodwood estate. Not only that but the attention to detail is also excellent in the choice of wines. Seldom is one given the choice of a good Desert wine these days but even this has been thought through and there is not only a choice but a recommendation to accompany each desert. Best order a taxi to fully enjoy the wine list!

“Wonderful afternoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Following a very chilly day at the Goodwood Racetrack watching the Spring Sprint, we had booked a table at the Kennels. It had a lovely ambience, and the prolifery of penguin and pelican books on the shelves is a good conversation piece. The service was outstanding and the quality of the food was second to none. Whilst there was a childrens' menu, it was slightly limited, and there were no starters on it. This could prove a problem if the adults were having starters and the children were a little restless. Poached egg was outstanding and the pick of the starters, although the ham hock terrine was also excellent. Mains were also very good, especially the fish and chips, served with a delicious home made tartare sauce and crushed minted peas. Desserts were to die for! The only fault was that when the espressos were served, we had to ask for sugar, which was served as large cubes; not really suitable. I did mention it to the staff, and they seemed very attentive. Hopefully next time, we'll have the option of smaller amounts. Overall, we had a fantastic time and you are made to feel very special. Looking forward to trying the afternoon tea.
