Description: Cloisters Cafe prides itself on fair trade suppliers and freshly cooked food, featuring dishes such as smoked haddock with a gruyere and tomato gratin, supreme of chicken in a mushroom and tarragon sauce and roasted sweet potato with a bean ragu. Old favourites also appear on the menu along with baked potatoes and a range of hot and cold sandwiches. There is a roast on Sundays when bookings can be made in advance. Cloisters also has a beautiful walled garden and the stunning Cathedral spire can be seen through its glazed roof. Next to our cafe is the Cloisters Shop, offering a range of unique and gorgeous gifts and accessories, souvenirs and religious items. A perfect way to round off a visit to the Cathedral, or just to find that special present.

A nice restaurant in Chi Cathedral grounds - bustling given it's a tourist attraction but this shouldn't distract from the restaurant.

“Lovely historic setting, but food other than main dishes needs attention.”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

I often have lunch here when on a day trip to Chichester as I enjoy the historic atmosphere, especially in the summer sitting in the garden. However, the food (apart from hot main dishes which are good) is not always reliable. On my last visit I decided to have a panini with peppers and salad. The panini was not heated up, the interior just consisted of a couple of bits of raw slimy pepper and the salad was not fresh so I didn't eat it. On a previous visit in the summer, the rolls were not fresh. I am thinking of going elsewhere in the future which is a shame as I do like the setting.
