My wife and I booked an evening meal at the George & Dragon initially because we know Tom who works there, but we were determined to form our own opinions. We called in the afternoon to check the pub out, and were immediately impressed when the barman suggested my wife had a hot drink as she looked so cold! They had four very good real ales on tap, which suited me,the atmosphere was superb and the pub was very warm and cosy. We had a table booked for 6 pm, and the pub was already filling up when we got there. The menu was excellent, and even though the food was cooked from scratch it arrived very quickly. And it was superb! My wife's chicken dish was the nicest restaurant meal she'd had for ages, and my Rubens Burger was beautiful. And the portions were huge! When we left the pub at 9 pm the dining room was full and the pub was packed, sure signs that this was an enormously popular venue. We are ex-licensees with almost thirty years experience in the trade, and we can always recognise a successful, well run pub; great beer and food, friendly, efficient and extremely professional bar staff, warm convivial atmosphere. For us, the George and Dragon had all these in spades.

We had an excellent meal here. It was a Tuesday night and the restaurant wasn't very busy. However it didn't lack atmosphere, the service was good and the food was top notch. Great variety on the menu and a board full of great specials. I opted for the Thai curry which was fantastic and our table also had the pigeon and risotto which were lovely. All reasonably priced and we will definatly be returning. One of the places too eat inside the city walls, that's for sure.

had a fabulous lunch in The George and Dragon. A friend and I chose a Mezze platter to share .. what a feast! Fantastic quality food and very generous serving, served with warm pitta bread. Shame that we we didn't have time for dessert as it looked SO nice. The only suggestion I have would be to move the dining area to the front of the building, the sight of the food would be certain to entice customers in. Will defiantely return. Service was spot on!

On a shopping trip to Chichester we called in for lunch at the George & Dragon. We arrived fairly early so there were not many other diners. We were met by very friendly staff and were shown into the conservatory area. The menu had a reasonable choice of starters, mains and desserts with a number of specials for the day.My wife decided to have only a starter but what appeared would in many other venues be considered a main.
Both our meals were very tasty and enjoyable. By the time we left the restaurant and bar were busy with a great atmosphere.
The service and quality of the food certainly means that we shall be heading back there again soon.
