Had lunch here as a return to an old haunt. Food was wholesome and tasty but the building and grounds are a bit of a let down. When you push open the door to the gents and your hand comes back all tacky you know its time to move on. Hope it can be brought back to its former glory. The Black Horse at Binstead 7 or 8 miles down the road is testimony of what can be done with places like this.

The staff were lovely, as was the garden. I felt the food was ok. We had bread and olives to start which we're really nice. However we then had sea bass and
Steak. The fish and meat were very good but the fish just came with a big plate of new potatoes and a sliver of spinach and the meat with a plate of chips and a little rocket. Leaving us feeling like we just had potatoes with a bit of something.for a hefty price tag!

We visited on a quiet Monday evening & were alone in the restaurant, which was our choice & absolutely fine, most other people were eating outside. Service was good, food & wine was good, my husband was very impressed with his steak. I would recommend it, we will go again, good for a special occasion. Has a very pleasant garden.

We probably eat here every couple of months as we feel that the food is great. You can either eat in the bar side, outside or in the dining room (the dining room is a bit space, but it goes with the pub atmosphere) as mentioned previously, food is a little more expensive, but worth every penny as the quality is outstanding. Bar staff always friendly and polite. Looking forward to my next vist

We felt welcome from the moment we walked in. We had not booked a table but that was no problem. Drinks and food orders were taken promptly. Served with no long wait and the food was first class. Not typical pub food and a little more expensive than typical pub food but no problem when the quality of cooking and presentation is so good. The portions were ample as well. Will definitely pay a return visit when in the area.
