We were receommended to go to the Fish House and I have to say it lived up to the excellent billing!! We stayed in the Padstow room which was very spacious and contempory with all mode cons including a flat screen TV and lovely bathroom.

As part of the package we were allocated the sole use of a hot tub which was in a private gazebo in the garden.

We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar and the general manager and bar staff were very friendly - the wine selections by the glass was great - recommend the Sancerre!

The restaurant as the name implies offers extensive ala carte fish dishes and several specials too. We had mussels to start which were plump and lovely followed by Sea Bream and Monkfish respectively and shared a cheese platter and port to finish off with.

We would recommend both the restaurant and the hotel especially for special occasions.

Went for a Valentines weekend, which we booked through a luxury short break specialist recommended by friends. We arrived later than we said but there was no problem at reception. We drank Champagne (part of the package) and enjoyed the use of our allotted outdoor hot tube situated in a less than glamorous shed area. We were late for dinner but the restaurant staff were fine about it and looked after us well. Food & atmosphere good – not 5 star but I don’t think they are aiming for that market. A late breakfast (10.15 am) the following morning was excellent. Just give it a chance. Not perfect, but what is these days? Looking forward to a return when the weather is warmer and we can sit out in the gardens and terrace.

This hotel and restaurant is situated in very attractive countryside between Petersfield and Chichester in the lee of the South Downs. We had been to the restaurant before and had found it good. It is now under new management, though some of the previous staff still remain. We had lunch. There is a fixed menu: £18.95 for two courses and £22.50 for three. There is a limited selection, however the food was excellent. Service was slow and the waited didn't seem to have been trained very well. We had a drink before the meal in a sitting area and were given a menu. We gave our order and 10 minutes later were called to the table. Here we waitd for a further 10 minutes before the first course appeared. We were not shown a wine list and had to ask for one. Wines were quite expensive. With better service we could recommend this restaurant.

Four of us had lunch at the Fish House on a saturday lunchtime, we all had starters and main courses and two bottles of wine. The wine was excellant, particularly the Prosecco,
and considering the food prices not too badly priced. I had the Scallops served in their shells, unfortuneatly with corals removed, and at £13.95 for 3 is quite extortionate. My main was a good sized Selsey Cock Crab with New Potatoes & Salad but at £23.00 was very over priced, but very good. My poor wife chose the Pate starter, (minute and not a patch on her own home made), but worse was to come. Her Lamb main was delicious but for £23.95 she got 5 pieces of meat each sized the same as a 2 pence piece and not much thicker, no additional veg other than a spoonful equivelant and when questioned about this, the reply was she should have ordered two sides at an extra £7.50. This would have made her main nearly £36.00 including service. With these prices it was not surprising that there were only 8 other people eating, and they were on the two course lunch special. Now we dont mind paying top notch prices, they were of course displayed on the menu's, but should my wife go home and eat a sandwich afterwards as she was so hungry. I cannot say anymore as this place is for sale by the bank, as it is in administration, for some £3,000,000. since March. Unsurprisingly, there appear to have been no takers.

Not our first time here as we live about 20 miles away and it's a nice drive. It has always been a friendly and efficent place, so I am not sure what happened last Sunday.
We arrived just after noon and were greeted by someone who looked like a manager, asking us if we were 'lunching' on the patio and that he would get us a wine list.
It arrived and ..... that was it.
We sat there for over 20 mins without anyone to take our order, not that we didn't see any staff, we had staff putting up the outside umbrella's, moving tables and worst of all offering and then bringing out drinks to the visiting jazz band. Now, yes I could have gone to the bar and ordered the drinks & food (even though we didn't have any menu's) but why should I with that many staff around and no other customers ?
So we left and spent our money in the 'Earl of March' in Lavant, on the way back, a place with fantastic food, great staff, who served us straight away, even though we were in the garden and they were heaving with customers.
It comes at no surpise why it was so full and others aren't .
