“A Hot Night”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

It was a very hot day when we stayed at the Chichester Park Hotel and this fact definitely coloured our opinion of the hotel. When we arrived in our room on the second floor, it was extremely hot. We opened the window to try and cool it down, as there was no air-conditioning. During the night, we had the choice of leaving the window open to keep cool and being kept awake by the traffic noise or closing the window and feeling far too hot whilst trying to sleep. Consequently, we had a very bad night’s sleep, even though the bed was reasonably comfortable.

When we arrived at breakfast around 8.30, it seemed as though most of the guests had already eaten, as the staff were re-laying the tables for lunch. We felt that there was insufficient choice for breakfast. There was a huge bowl of natural yoghurt and another of tinned prunes and a small amount of tinned grapefruit. There was no fresh fruit or fruit yoghurt, no cake and very little bread for toast or viennoiserie. My husband chose a cooked breakfast from the heated trays, but said that it was rather over-cooked, as it had been in the trays too long. I don’t eat a cooked breakfast, and had to suffice with a piece of brioche (similar to the packets one can buy in supermarkets), which was very stale and two very small croissants. I considered this to be very expensive at £9.95 per person for a buffet breakfast.

The rooms are of a satisfactory standard for a three star hotel and are good value at £62 a night. We did find, however, that the WI-FI in the rooms was only intermittent. We were unable to access internet 2 or 3 times during our one night stay. We definitely found the road noise a problem, as the hotel is close to a busy roundabout.

Stayed here beginning of June for our second Ladies Weekend at this Hotel
Again everything went well the Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was first class and the management could not do enough to insure our weekend went without a hitch.
Will definitely be back, cannot praise them enough

I've stayed here many times and whilst it's 'ok' it's certainly not great. The romms are quite big but very tired and the beds have sheets and blankets not duvets which I don't really like.
On the plus side teh TV always works and has all the freeview channels.
The leisure club is tiny but at least it's there!
The hotel is conveniently located and although the car park is big, if th hotel is busy space can be a premium. Breakfast is buffet style and perfectly good. Dinner is ok but nothing special.

We attended a wedding and stayed for 2 nights. We looked at the other reviews and was glad that we decided to make our our own opinion. We were in room 104 which looked over a lovely courtyard, which was quiet also we were quite happy to have the window on the latch. The staff were friendly, the food was excellent both in the restaurant and at the wedding reception. We found the rooms were dated but very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: 104 was a good room but you could hear the people walking around in the room above.

Good location for getting to Goodwood, the room we were in was basically fine for our needs with adequate facilities, i.e. Hair drier, trouser press and tea making facilities. The staff were all very good if not a bit thin on the ground at times, bar and reception not always manned but always helpful. Breakfast for the pre-booked price was fine and value for money, so save yourself £3, pre-book it and go up to the buffet as many times as you like. Would use again if the need arises.

The hotel has a general run down feeling coupled with the smallest and most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. Also the walls are paper thin and you can hear the slightest noise from your neighbours.

Overall I left having had a terrible nights sleep and would definitely not go back.

With my daughter's wedding venue only 15 minutes up the road this hotel seemed an ideal location for some of the guests to stay overnight. The booking was made quite early on and we were quoted the standard overnight rate even though there may have been a clash with Goodwood Horse racing when I believe the rates may rise by quite a %. Some be warned avoid Goodwood week if you are considering staying..
The hotel receptionists were friendly and helpful just the kind of folk you want at front of house. However all the other members of staff seemed almost surly just content to get on with their work and unwilling or unable to pass the time of day with you.
My daughter booked a table for 12 of us for her final evening meal as a single and I found the restaurant was efficient and the food was good but once again there was no atmosphere and the staff were there to do a job and did it well enough, but would not enter into any passing the time of day.
Some of us retired to the bar after dinner and we had to wait and wait some more for a barman. We rang the bell and waited, someone else rang the bell and waited and In the end one of our party went to reception to enquire. We were served but there was no recognition that we had been kept waiting, no apology.
One other thing I did point out in the hotel customer satisfaction survey was that there may be a safety issue with the paving outside. Some of the slabs were loose or cracked and one particular kerb stone definitely needed replacing. If not I could forsee an accident occurring. Also to give better appeal to guests the weeds could do with treating.
The carpets on the stairs and landing could do with steam cleaning to get rid of the stains and the décor in the rooms has seen better days.
This may seem like a totally negative review but I am only pointing out what others must see. Having said all that if you are after a hotel, no frills, clean rooms and reasonable food and prices then you could do worse than stay here.
