“Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

I stayed at The Goodwood Hotel a number of times in June on business - each time was lovely, the staff were polite, personable and professional throughout and the hotel was immaculate. I'm planning to come back for a long weekend as a couple to enjoy the hotel whilst on leisure time!

I ate at both restaurants whilst staying - The Richmond Arms offers your more traditional hotel restaurant - which was lovely. The menu was a little odd in that it's a set menu - but many of the dishes are at a supplement (not unusual) of up to £20 (this was strange to me). I also felt comfortable dining by myself here. I also had breakfast here as I was on a bed and breakfast rate, which was delicious, freshly cooked but also a good selection of cold options (fruit, yoghurt, pastries etc.) The bar was also nice - the terrace overlooks the golf course - and good for a more casual meal.

I didn't use the pool or the gym - but both looked very nice and I would remember gym kit and swimming things in future!

Definitely one of the nicest hotels in this area and I'd recommend for couples wanting a little UK break or anyone who wants a nice retreat when working down that way!

Room Tip: A lot of ground floor rooms have a little terrace which is nice, the hotel is basically circular so...

We staryed here as part of a wedding party and the hotel staff and service was very good. Excellent grounds, and decent newly refurbished rooms. Overally very good.

Room Tip: The hotel is a bit of a maze and some of the rooms (Classic) are yet to be updated.

Enjoyed a lovely break on a Sunday night deal in November, room was gorgeous, grounds were beautiful and breakfast in bed topped it all off. We left feeling truly relaxed.

The Goodwood Hotel is situated on the land of the Earl of March, host of the Festival od Speed and many other events adored by the vintage motorist. The ambiance itself is beautiful, there also is a sculpture park and a farm shop, where a great organic lager is sold. :-) The hotel itself is elegant, well maintained and achieves a pleasant balance between the Dukes-of-Richmond-esque estate and 21st century technology. A delightful change from the uniformity of many four star venues. Our room was a former servants room, but spacious with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was comprehensive and the service was excellent throughout. Would come again anytime.

This was an excellent hotel for quality. Best bed I have slept in this year with wonderful bed linen.....sorry to go on about beds but on business you need good quality sleep and quiet, and this hotel provided both in abundance. Not cheap to eat in the restaurant but beautiful food and excellent service. Something cheaper can be bought in the brasserie where the atmosphere is cheerful and family orientated. The hotel is in a lovely area and if it had stopped raining I am sure I would have enjoyed the gardens, however Glorious Goodwood it was not. The only problem we had was the water was turned off at 10.00pm because of too much rain! All in all a super hotel with a stunning spa and fabulous staff. I look forward to going back when it is sunny.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking ask for a room near reception otherwise you could be on the other sid...

We had an overnight spa break, and staying at Goodwood was a treat for me as we walk past it every year going to the festival of speed. The price of our stay included the room, breakfast, dinner at the Richmond arms 2 mini treatments and use of the Spa on both days. It's only a four star but it operates with a quiet confidence. Nothing is in your face and you aren't made to feel grateful for receiving good service. When we booked, over the phone, everything was sorted out including spa appointments, our dinner reservations and late check out so we could have our treatment without rushing. Our room looked into a green courtyard which also had garden rooms, they looked nice. The bathroom was modern with a complicated shower/taps control; once you work it out it's OK but a few labels or instructions would help. The hotel is a rabbit-warren so pay attention when you are shown your room!
Yes, the dinner menu did have suplements on it but even with those the meal for 2 price was on a par with a restaurant meal, we managed to choose without paying additional. The price for the whole stay was comparable with all other spa breaks we looked at in Surrey/Berks but the Goodwood name made us feel like we knew what we were getting. We were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and left completely relaxed.

Room Tip: Garden rooms look nice. Get a refurbished room.

Last week i stayed in that typical british hotel. There is a spa area and golf place which i didn't use.
Also there are 2 restaurants. The more classy one is defintly the better one, the other on near the spa i would not recommend. There you can eat only fried dinner.
On breakfast you get all good english food, which is wish able for every stay in the UK.
The rooms are cozy, the bed is very (!) comfortable and huge. Every day you get a postcard with the weather forecast of the next day.
For a short stay of around 2 days i would recommend this hotel.
