“A hidden gem”

We had a very enjoyable meal here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We couldn't fault the food or wine.

We hadn't booked a table but as it was fairly early we went on the off chance they would be able to fit us in, thankfully they could. I will most definately be going there again, I only wish I had discovered this place sooner! Perfect for a special occasion.

“Exceeded our expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2012

This restaurant is certainly a hidden nugget within Chichester heart and whilst the view from the outside does not hold the same charm, it offers a completely different, warm and welcoming, feeling inside. Do not be put off by the slightly austere look – this really is a true and proper restaurant with its own ambiance and fitting background music.
At this time of day (we had booked for the evening) and year we had obviously chosen to sit inside, however the outside court yard, under a cluster of trees with small white ‘starlight’ lights, I would imagine would have its own delights for that warm, cosy summer night.
The staff were all very friendly, attentive, truly professional and have a more than good knowledge of the menu and wine list – a good plus point for any restaurant. Whilst on the subject of wines – we chose a local English sparkling from the Tinwood Estate and would highly recommend this to all. Another plus was the knowledge of the wine waiter – well worth having a discussion with him on your favourite drink as we came away with several gems of information.
The menu itself had an adequate choice to suit most palates, whilst being inspiring and well thought out. The food itself was totally excellent using the freshest ingredients, from starters, through separate mains (the venison haunch was pure perfection) and on to the deserts – none of these courses could be faulted, in any way, on the cooking, service or presentation.
Slightly pricey – but then again we really did get what we paid for and therefore good value for money.
Overall an excellent experience, exemplary service and it comes with a total recommendation that, if in Chichester, you should visit. This must surely be one of the best restaurants in Chichester.
Be warned, if looking at a lunch here, we were informed you would need to book.

“Enjoyable lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

Been 2 or 3 times before. Very friendly welcome. Excellent pan fried John Dory with crushes rosemary potatoes and very good partridge breast and leg with a few veg and first class bread sauce. Big plateful. Panna cotta with lime and chocolate jelly with ice cream and crisp biscuit unusual. Wonderful machiato and espresso by English standards

“GARNISH AT THE ART GALLERY”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

I visited the Pallant House Gallery with no intention of eating there, but when I saw the menu I could not resist stopping for lunch, I had a crab and pea tartlet followed by partridge with a good glass of wine for just over £20. other galleries take note!
