Owner description: Step back in time at Amberley Museum, a remarkable heritage site in the Sussex South Downs, between Storrington and Arundel, focusing on industrial and transport history. Most days the bus service and narrow gauge railway run, which take visitors to the far end of the site where the electricity, communications and railway exhibition halls can be found. Further exhibits include the working printshop, lime kilns, road steam engines, standard gauge line, stationary engines, greenwood village and more. The Museum is home to traditional craftspeople, such as the woodturners and blacksmith, with a cafe, gift shop, playground, nature trails and picnic areas. It’s well worth a visit and there is plenty to do in all weathers. We are hosting over 50 events in 2017 from children’s activity days to classic vehicle shows; from the amazing Robotslive in July to our new art activity week in August. We open from 8th March to 29th October, seven days a week during Sussex school holidays and on Bank Holidays, otherwise Wednesday to Sunday. Right next to Amberley railway station, with direct trains from London, Bognor and Portsmouth (check before you travel), we have a large, free carpark. Please see our website for further information.

This was an excellent Bank Holiday day out! We felt we had our £11 worth! The 36 acre site ( once a chalk pit) includes narrow guage railway, childrens' playground, restaurant, nature trail, gift shop, pottery, picnic areas and numerous exhibitions, such as telecommunications and vintage wireless. There are plenty of 'buttons' for the children to press, they need never be bored! There are also plenty of places to sit for the more elderly.Through the year 'Special days'(such as Classic Car Summer Picnic,Craft and Food Fair,Hands-on Half Term) are worth fining out about. A chance to keep our heritage alive and relax and enjoy ourselves too! A very good attraction.

A fascinating day out with the grandchild retro this working Museum. From the old country crafts to a practical look at electrical power, telecoms through the ages and rail heritage. A great place with attractions throughout the year.

We decided to visit again after a few years of seeing the place before and came away feeling quite bored. We felt it was a lot of money to get in and not really much to do . The collection of various items do not seem to have any sort of time line just a lot of tvs dumped in a room .The bus was not running and the train ride lasted all of 5 mins.? whats the point. The cafe was expensive four pounds for a piece of flapjack????Any of the great sellers that used to be there have gone ,it used to have a pottery shop and trugs you could buy but that has all gone just a junk shop with overpriced tat.The shop as you enter the place also has a lot of rubbish which bares little relation to the place .There was a collection of jaguar cars arriving and leaving at about 3pm but again seemed a bit pointless. The place could be great with the right people running it !

I have been going to the museum since I was at school and love the place so much to see and do and always something different to see. Love the Old Quarry railway and trip behind a steam train and then enjoy a bus journey around the site. They even filmed a 007 film here and you can see some of the waggons they used in the film. So much to do in a day.

Spent a lovely 3-4 hours wandering out this fascinating museum with extended family (children from 6-10). Very informative for both adults and children, lots to see and do and great staff. Catering was a bit school canteen but still a great day out.
