Owner description: TEMPORARILY CLOSED. OPENING 7th MARCH 2018 Step back in time at Amberley Museum, a remarkable heritage site in the Sussex South Downs, between Storrington and Arundel, focusing on industrial and transport history. Most days the bus service and narrow gauge railway run, which take visitors to the far end of the site where the electricity, communications and railway exhibition halls can be found. Further exhibits include the working printshop, lime kilns, road steam engines, standard gauge line, stationary engines, greenwood village and more. The Museum is home to traditional craftspeople, such as the woodturners and blacksmith, with a cafe, gift shop, playground, nature trails and picnic areas. It’s well worth a visit and there is plenty to do in all weathers. Right next to Amberley railway station, with direct trains from London, Bognor and Portsmouth (check before you travel), we have a large, free carpark. Please see our website for further information.

Although we all enjoyed our visit I think the museum was a little short on exhibits , the staff were polite & there is a nice feel about the place , just hoped there would be more to see .

Industry from the past has been brought to the beautiful thatched village of Amberley, including moving a whole station there. A plethora of interesting and obscure equipment from the past, with enthusiastic guides to tell you what it was all used for! Take time out to look round Amberley Village which is a 20 walk or 5 minute drive away.

This is an excellent place for a kids day out . Educational and fun. School trips during term time and a must for parents to take their kids during the holiday. There is something to interest everyone

Went in October half term with my two grandchildren aged 4 and 6. We all enjoyed the museum. There is a train ride to various stations in the museum and a bus to also ride about in. Interesting interactive activities for the children and both the boys found it very interesting. We particulary enjoyed the old village with the craftsman making various items. It was a pity there was not more craftsman to talk to as we went round as this makes it far more interesting. I found it strange that for half term week the pottery was closed as was the broom maker. We had a coffee in the restaurant and found the food to be quite costly. Luckily we had taken a picnic with us.
Overall we enjoyed our day, the museum was interesting but it could have been better. The entrance fee was fair and parking was free. I would recommend this attraction for a pleasant day out.
