There were three adults, one small baby in a, not that small, pram and a young Red Setter dog in our party. With this mix of potential customers and one having an allergy to garlic it would have been enough to make many a cafe owner show us the door, but we were made extremely welcome. The service was friendly, helpful and prompt. They should run training courses on quality customer care, so high is their standard of service. The food could easily be overlooked by the ambience, but it more than holds its own. We had a mixture of pannini's, jacket potatoes, milk shakes and earl grey tea, oh yes and biscuits were provided for the dog on a saucer. I had wanted the soup but the owner couldn't confirm if it contained garlic so counselled against it as a choice. Without promoting he checked the salad dressing for garlic and suggested an alternative. This degree of honesty and guidance was much appreciated. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would not hesitate to recommend Bertie's.
