“Cottage with a Perfect view of Arundel castle”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Location - Great! Our son dropped us off for a wedding in the hills of Arundel and then went off to have ice cream in Brighton before returning to London in the evening. With a great view of Arundel castle & country, it's very conveniently for both country & seaside. Going west on A27, turn right at Crossbush Ln right just before the Arundel train station. Our return train to London Victoria passed Gatwick airport, so this is very convenient for foreign travelers. Breakfast - the attention to details is fantastic. Portions are generous with fresh local produce in season. The host took great care on this. "Please, what else can we get you?" There is fresh milk and cold water all day long in a small fridge under the stairs; lovely selection of tea plus coffee with cookies in the room. Room - the room is very new and immaculately set up. Beddings are luxurious with many little cushons. There are only two rooms, both 4-5 stars. Our bathroom has sun roof /vent. Lizzie is very capable well trained before she set this up. The cottage is 'green'. It runs on solar energy; water is recycled for the garden. A great host and with a very high standard. Tge rife into the Arundel took 5 mins; we walked along river Arundel slowly which took 30 mins. Room availability is on a calendar, look for it on a webpage; write Lizzie an email. We would return and take both rooms even outside summer.

Room Tip: Only two rooms. Choose the Castle room with view of castle when you get up with GBP10 more, it's...

My partner Isabelle and I stayed at Nurses Cottage on a trip down memory lane for her. The accommodation is a recent conversion, very well thought-out and crisp & clean. Lizzie is the perfect hostess, the service and room were second to none. We watched the sun rise over the fields to the front of the house and were enchanted by the pheasants patrolling their patch. To the rear of the cottage Arundel Castle stands guard over this delightful town and the views to front and rear are superb. Lizzie recommended The George at Burpham and this lovely community-run pub did not disappoint. Nurses Cottage is highly recommended for an overnight or longer stay.

Room Tip: Good views from both rooms, a very quiet location so no traffic noise to disturb your slumbers!

After a mix up over dates with our original hotel we were recommended Nurse's Cottage B&B at the last minute and were very lucky to be offered a room at such short notice. Lizzie welcomed us with tea and biscuits and then showed us to our room. Clean and cozy, with a very comfy bed, we slept so soundly when we got back from dinner. Breakfast the next morning was hearty to say the least and we spent some considerable time afterwards gazing at the stunning view out the window across the fields to Arundel before we could push back and get to our feet! We'd have walked it off but for the torrential rain that day.. Would definitely recommend this lovely B&B.

We had the castle view room which would have been a staggering view even if it didn't have Arundel Castle and Arundel Cathedral in it.

The room itself was modern, bright and clean - the attention to detail was brilliant; not just panoramic windows but panoramic windows which opened; a bidet in the bathroom; a shower which had plenty of elbow room; comfortable bed; wonderfully furnished.

Lizzie was a perfect host. The breakfast was delicious, and we never felt hurried or rushed.

Our only regret was we were only staying one night - if we'd have known how great Nurses Cottage was, we'd have stayed another night. We'll certainly be back... and with the station within walking distance, we're already plotting what we might do on future visits.

Room Tip: Go with the castle view if you can. A little bit extra in cost, but you'll more than recoup in e...

Our rooms were spotless, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The larger has the most superb view across the valley to Arundel - Loiresque with its castle, cathedral and town perched on a hill. The smaller was an architectural insight into how to fit a perfectly adequate sized double room and ensuite bathroom into a small roof space. Everything white punctuated with splashes of red from a few scattered cushions. Our breakfast was everything you could wish for with delicious fresh soft fruit and that view!! Interesting pictures on the walls. Lizzie and Paul were delightful hosts who looked after us very well.

Room Tip: "Castle View" is worth the extra.

We spent four nights at the Nurses Cottage during the 2013 Goodwood Revival. The Nurses Cottage has been the best B&B in the UK we ever stayed before. Thanks for all Lizzie and Paul!

My partner and I stayed for one night for a wedding, and Lizzie was so helpful from the initial email enquiries through to driving us to a pick-up -point for the wedding! We felt truly pampered; the room was wonderfully clean, bright and with beautiful views. There was even fresh milk for tea and coffee.

Breakfast was delicious, with a vast choice of fresh fruits, yoghurt and muesli, to the full English and croissants with plenty of jams and marmalades. Together with fresh coffee and orange juice, we didn't need lunch! The communal space is gorgeous- well decorated, with fresh flowers and a beautiful view.

I would heartily recommend this b&b to anyone wanting to stay in the area, and we have even thought of coming back for a weekend as it is perfectly located for local walking and visiting the castle. Excellent value for money.
