While our once-green and pleasant England has lost 97 per cent of her flower meadows in the last 50 years, thanks to over-development and intensive farming, places like the various Wildfowl and Wetlands centres in the UK go a long way to restore faith in human goodness. Here, priorities are right, thank God, and unlike those who "rule" us, the environment and its precious inhabitants are appreciated, treasured, and nurtured. This gorgeous gem in Sussex is a haven both for wonderful wildlife in all its diversity, and for those humans who CARE. A boat meander through the rushes and reeds, with friendly and knowledgeable commentary, a glimpse of water voles, a fringe of flowering plants, a buzz of insects, and a soundtrack of summer birdsong, proved that Nature WILL survive, given the right conditions. Bless all those people who care about what matters.
