Regular visitor to this one of our favourite restaurants in Arundel

The food is first-class, with new additions to the menu every month, there is always something new to surprise and delight. It combines good quality ingredients in ways that really bring the flavours out to their best.

Ambience is friendly and relaxed. Staff are always attentive.

Really worth seeking out, tucked away on Tarrant Street.

Already a firm favourite we visited Sage on Saturday with a guest in tow. A warm and genuine welcome from the wonderful owner, Clare, the soothing tones of Frank's voice and guitar to entertain us and the anticipation of exciting and innovative food from Jonas makes for a wonderful start to your evening! The first of two bottles of the fab Lopez de Haro white Rioja placated us as we delved into the menu. I went for the generous scallops with cumin, parsnips and apple matchsticks - delicious! The others devoured the Vitamin e & zinc salad. Micro leaves, seeds, chargrilled asparagus, avocado and feta with an apparently 'wow' dressing. I struck out on my own again for the main and loved the bamboo lemon chicken with cracked wheat, almonds and pesto, feeling healthy and naughty at the same time. The other two highly praised the braised beef in African spices. Our companion went for the lemon curd stack - delicate crisps of filo carrying a sumptuous lemon cream filling. It couldn't beat our sticky toffee pudding with whiskey ice cream though!! A wonderful atmosphere as always and ready applause for the live music, candles and a general contented hubbub. What more could you ask for x

We made an unexpected visit to Sage when visiting relatives in Arundel. OK, we weren't paying, but what a treat it turned out to be. The restaurant is intimate and cosy and we were looked after from the minute we walked in the door. We had too much red wine and too much food, but that was our fault - it was all too good to resist! We did have to wait some time in between courses, but we were out for the evening - so that was fine with us and rather what we would expect from this style of restaurant where everything is cooked from scratch. It wasn't busy when we visited, but there was a wonderful singer / guitarist playing softly in the background - not intrusive but just enough to create an ambient atmosphere. All in all, a first rate experience and we will defintely be back.

As a regular visitor to Sage, I can't understand the previous two reviews. One of the great things about this restaurant is the atmosphere. It has always been very special. The food is always excellent, slightly different from the other restaurants in Arundel and certainly not bland, the flavours are what I would describe as subtle. This restaurant is certainly worth visit!
