Portreeves
Reviewed December 7, 2009

Portreeves is in an ideal location - a 5-10 minute walk from picturesque Arundel. Joanne (owner) was very professional in advance of our stay, providing answers to questions, advice on where to eat and updates on payments etc. The accommodation is modern, clean and welcoming, and has all amenities for a comfortable self catering mini-break.
Arundel itself is quaint - with various craft and antque shops. We walked along the River to The Black Rabbit in Burpham and ate in the evening at The Bay Tree Restaurant- both recommended. I would recommend Arundel and Portreeves to anyone.

My boyfriend and I just spent two nights in Arundel, staying at Portreeves, and we were incredibly impressed. Not only is the town quaint and adorable, but Portreeves is the most wonderful place to stay to explore and really enjoy it. We just came to relax, but found our days full with things to do/relaxing. The castle (although not completely open.. only open for a fair trade sale) was spectacular - we definitely want to return to see it all. It is absolutely stunning!

This town is quiet, relaxed, calm, and lovely. Portreeves sits just outside the main part of town, but is within a 5 minute walk from both the train station and the town. We stayed in the garden apartment and it was fantastic. Probably THE most comfortable bed we've ever slept in, a lovely dining/sitting room with pull-out sofa, tv, and games. The bedroom was lovely and bright, plenty of room for storage of cases/luggage and to hang anything. The bathroom was large and clean. The apartment was fantastic - we ate out one night at Papparadelle (which was wonderful and cosy), but cooked our own breakfast and dinner one night. The kitchen had everything you need - and Joanne even left us a pint of milk and some coffee! Such a nice touch! The apartment looks out onto the pretty garden where you can also watch all the wild rabbits - so sweet!

Joanne was a lovely host - very welcoming, and excellent on email before our arrival - answered all of your questions promptly and thoroughly and gave us loads of information about the town and things we could do and see. And left us so much information in the room.

We will definitely be staying in Arundel again and would most definitely stay at Portreeves if it was available. It is a lovely, lovely town and a fantastic place to stay.

We have just returned from a trip to Arundel and found it to be a beautiful place with culture and things to do for children so it keeps every one happy. We stayed at a lovely apartment called Portreeves, they have 2 apartments and B & B as well. The accomodation was excellent, very clean, comfortable and contemporary. We were able to park the car there and did not use the car again until we came home as everything was in easy walking distance. One of the apartments takes dogs as well.
Places to eat are plentiful, and varied. If you have not visited before give both Arundel and the accomodation a try.

We had the honour of being the first guests to stay at Portreeves. We were absolutely delighted with the spacious, well decorated and extremely clean accommodation. The owners were friendly, polite, kind and we would now like to think, friends. The location is ideal for Arundel, and has beatiful private gardens at the rear. The facilities in the rooms were excellent and the service and food second to none, we cannot praise more highly, and we wish Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone all the best in their new venture. We shall certainly be returning and highly recommend to other people who want a lovely relaxing break in Arundel.
