Loved this place, could only do the Gardens & Shop as my wheelchair was too wide to go through some of the passages. If you can transfer they have smaller wheelchairs for you to use.

Victorian Gothic at its best - the first view of the Castle as you round the corner in the drive is WOW! & the interior more than lives up to first impressions. I particularly liked the many family portraits enabling you to put faces to the names of many of the Duke of Norfolk's illustrious ancestors, as well as the impressive tombs in the Chapel.
The gardens are equally amazing, especially the "Collector Earl's Garden", and there are lots of quiet places to sit and take in the beautiful surroundings.
But what really makes a visit here memorable is the friendliness, professionalism & knowledge of the volunteers & staff, both in the castle & the gardens.
Tickets aren't cheap but having spent the whole day here I felt the visit was well worth the money.

“An amazing day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

Arundel castle and gardens are a must see if you're in the area, and if you're not, well worth making a special journey for. The grounds are beautiful and varied, with formal and informal gardens, glasshouses and water features. The castle itself is imposing inside and out. The interior is sumptuous and full of character and history. Family photos add a nice, personal touch - in spite of being open to the public, it is still very much a home. The 'gold' ticket is a must have otherwise you miss out on seeing the beautiful bedrooms, and a couple of bathrooms that are to die for.
The restaurant is well furnished, and the food good value. And if you gift-aid, you receive money off voucher to use in the restaurant/shop.
Comfortable shoes, a camera and lots of time a must. We arrived as it opened, and they literally locked the gates behind us.

“Incredible castle & gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

Arundel castle looms dramatically above the tiny town along with an imposing 'gothic' cathedral. Amazingly both are Victorian rather than medieval - the products of a wealthy and ambitious family, which still lives there! The architecture is literally fabulous & the gardens are outstanding. Allow a full day to see castle, cathedral & Arundel itself!!

“Very interesting.”

Not just for the History buffs most interesting for all ages.Bit of a slope when you first enter and some steps to climb but the grounds are beautiful for anyone who can not manage the castle.
