The perfect rainy-day entertainment. The castle rooms are beautifully presented, with the incredible library being our all time favourite! Definitely worth a visit.

“Interesting but could be more engaging for kids”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Its a pretty and historically significant venue but it lacks the tourist friendly vibe - with the knowledgeable staff there to keep half an eye on the visitors.

I suspect they could try to find a way to bring it to life more - perhaps some actors to play historical scenes or some technology to show what it might have been like.

Gardens are very pretty too!

“Love this place”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Arundel is an excellent day trip; the castle itself is really well presented, the various sections easy enough to get to (although not good if you have mobility problems) the gardens are great for the kids to run around (and every now and then they have events like medieval re-creations), the formal gardens equally good, and then the town is nestled right next to it, and often has markets on the weekends. Highly recommend it. Only gripe is that the cafe is OK, but if you head away from town along the road you'll get to the 'Black Rabbit', which serves really good meals
