Booked Sunday lunch for three at the last minute and were very lucky to get a table. When we arrived the place was buzzing with what must have been pretty much a full house. We ordered the fish shared platter and breads with olive oil etc for a starter and it was very good with two very tasty dips. We all had different roasts which were very good especially the choice of vegetables, already plated.I asked our waiter if i could be cheeky and have another roast potato. With a smile on his face he went off to the kitchen immediately and produced another one within seconds. Our plates were cleared quickly when we had finished and we were asked if we required desserts which we certainly did if the previous standard of food was anything to go by. I had a apple, blackberry etc crumble, ice cream and custard and the other desserts were ginger and toffee and custard, and enormous profiteroles and cream. What pleased me was that our waiter was happy to substitute custard for cream etc.
We were very lucky to have our waiter who made the dining experience such a pleasure and i had to ask his name. The top class service from Pete, I hope that is allowed to specifically name somebody, and the very good menu will ensure that the next time we are in Coventry we will be eating at the White Lion.

Just back from Sunday lunch at the White Lion. Food was just what you'd expect and want in an English Sunday lunch. The table service was excellent - prompt, polite, efficient, friendly without fuss, even though it was busy. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be returning!

All round very good.
Meal was excellent.
Very good value for money.
A quaint old pub with a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Olde worldy in appearance, Very clean.
The pub always seemed to be extremely busy so I would recommend that either you book or get there early so you wont be disappointed! Great selection of wines and ales if that's what you like.

We first came to the White Lion last November, and have been twice more since, most recently last week - even though we've heard some negative reviews of the place we're still very much in love with it. The atmosphere is lovely and even during the busy times it remains a nice place to be and not an uncomfortable one; although the staff can be a little forgetful at times (everyone is human!) they're nice people and the service they provide is fantastic on the whole.

The food is one of the big pull factors for the White Lion; despite other people's reviews of it going down hill, you can't deny that it's always interesting, original and aiming for perfection. The pork belly with the ginger beer glaze is one of my favourite dishes ever and I look forward to trying more of their inventions in the coming future.

Everywhere has it's ups and downs but we're looking forward to visiting the White Lion again soon and continuing to have a lovely experience there when we do - one of our favourite places to go in Coventry and definitely one to try yourself.

A pub we use frequently but didn't forsee A level result day, bar staff were rude, tables dirty, food took 1 hour and 10 mins and we only ordered light bite food, waitress was hurried and abrupt... Not a good end to a fantastic day - wishing we had driven to harvester... Will not return anytime soon unless desperate!
