“think "travel Lodge"”
Reviewed January 24, 2010

This hotel has so many problems it's difficult to know where to begin. Four stars is laughable: think Expensive Travel Lodge and then, do yourself a favour and book into the Travel Lodge as you'll get better service and value for money. These people haven't heard the word "service" and probably couldn't spell it if they had. Certainly there was no evidence of any service whatsoever and, if you like a shrug of the shoulders and a "Can't be helped..." approach when you do report a problem, then book in and suffer. Definitely the worst hotel we stayed in during asn extended UK holiday in which we stayed in many hotels and the only time we were cold inside a building during the worst winter in 30 years. Truly appalling!

Dear Pandemos

Thank you for taking the time to list your findings after your stay with us lately.
We are often commented on positively about our customer service, so for you to experience a shortfall in the high standards we aspire to, I apologise.
I believe that to compare us to a Travelodge to be unjust, as the facilities and space with our rooms are far superior. We have tea & coffee making facilities, telephone, guest toiletries, large screen TV and extensive wardrobe space. These are a few of the things that are not available within a Travelodge.

Kind regards

You could be easily forgiven if you think you've entered a students' digs! This place is a dive. It was so bad that I asked to be moved to another hotel. The rooms are so tiny and the bathrooms are so small you can't swing a cat in it. Very claustrophic. The reception and lift areas were dirty and service was slow. Disappointed as have stayed in other Ramada hotels which have been fine. This is NOT a 4 star hotel.

I appreciate your time taken to post your comments following your stay with us. I am somewhat confused by them however.
We are an award winning hotel, that pride ourselves on the service and quality, of which has been recognised by the Quality in Tourism board, of which have awarded us 4 start status.
Having stayed at the Village hotel, of which I believe you refer to as the alternative option, I can confirm that the rooms here are actually larger and that we have a more varied selection, which include standard, studio and suite/apartments. The bathrooms are adequately designed to incorporate either a double walkin shower, or bath. Both of which with invigorating power showers. The lift area has recently been refitted with new carpet to replace the traffic worn one from previous. I can only assume this is what you refer too.
Apologies if you felt we failed you in anyway, but please feel free to contact myself for any future requirements, so as you can see the full range of facilities we have to offer.

Kind Regards

The room was fine - apart from some rattling noises from the air conditioning and noises from what I think was the lifts. I used the bar for what I hoped would be a quick meal of burger and chips. Only one person seemed to be on duty in the bar/restaurant - she eventually took my order after I attracted her attention. The food took about 40 minutes to arrive - and they were not busy . (Tthere was just one table in use in the restaurant that had almost finished.) When I queried what was happening with my meal - the waitress/barmaid was fairly rude and said said it was just coming - no explanation or apology for the delay. So don't bother with a bar meal if you are in a hurry. The buffet breakfast was the usual fare OK - but nothing special. There were cooked items missing on both mornings and people had to tell the staff that they had run out - the staff didn't seem to notice.
Car park is £5 a day. The hotel isn't in the nicest of areas - surrounded by Kebab and Pizza takeaways . It was originally an office block - and it looks like one. It worries me that this is coming up as the best hotel in Coventry - the others must be terrible .

Dear irishlinks

Many thanks for posting your comments following your stay with us last month. I apologise if there was a delay with your meal, but there are times, where the kitchen will be under demand for room service, but will not show on the main floor. This may have been the case, but should have been relayed to you at the time in a courteous way, of which I will follow up with the relevant staff members.

Please feel free to conatct myself direct should you have any future accommodation requirements, where I will ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

Kind regards

Thank you to the staff at the Ramada, had a lovely weekend break! Very attentive staff from arrival. During our meal in the hotels restaurant, our waitress was amusing, but professional, a credit to the hotel, and the food was excellent! The bar staff were attentive, and made time to go the extra mile! The rooms are very clean, modern, basic decor, but typical of ramada's style. The facilities within our room were outstanding, kettle, coffee machine, microwave, fridge, and more! We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked to return in December!
As a provider of training in this industry it is lovely to be able to complement and not critisize! The staff are a credit to this Hotel.

The room (deluxe) had a milldew smell. We stayed at the hotel for about 10 days and while there, the staff never did replace laundry bags during the week. In the evening (they have a small Italian Restaurant by the lobby) they averaged a 45 minute wait for a table which caused our colleagues to go to other restaurants by the hotel. The food supervisor (a red headed guy that also works in restaurant in the evening) was very rude, short and offended our colleagues. Overall....the staff needs a course on customer service!!!!

Dear cowhip

I appreciate your time taken to post your findings here, following your stay with us.
I am sorry that we failed in certain areas during your stay. The restaurant can reach busy periods during service where it can be difficult to accommodate all that walk in, as with any restaurant. Thats why it is always advisable to make a reservation. Regarding your other comments, I will be sure to follow up on these, but I wish you could have afforded me the opportunity to resolve during your stay with us.

Kind regards

...but let down by dirty, unsightly, smelly room service trays left outside rooms for excessively long periods - like ALL day. To get warm plates for our breakfasts we resorted to placing them on top of the toaster to warm before putting our breakfasts on them.
How long has that plastic bag caught in the branches of the tree immediately outside the dining room window been there?
On our 1st night the room lighting failed so we had only the light from the bathroom. "Can't do anything about it tonight we were told". Even a small gesture of recompense would have been nice

Dear Cliff6London

Many thanks for your review. I am pleased by your comment about the friendliness of the team here. I apologise for any issue you encountered with the lighting during your stay. We have reviewed the procedure for collecting the room service trays, with more frequent rounds being carried out. I am also pleased to say that the plastic caught in the tree has now been removed.
We hope to welcome you once more to the Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry.
