Great place for walking the dogs, lots of open space and areas for them to race about and let off steam, nice formal areas for those that prefer to sit and relax where dogs must be kept on leads too.
A real jewel of a place in the city centre, you wouldn't believe you were so near to the city here, its a real credit to the city and caters to all tastes and free parking too!

Came upon this park and enjoyed a memorable walk round. Found it very stirring seeing the War memorial which was very picturesque on a Winters Day. Also to see each tree dedicated to a Service-man was very unique and poignant. Lovely little lake and tea shop to visit too.

Reviewed this back in 2017 & of course been many times since but decided to just say again what a great & cheap place this is to entertain the Grandkids for a couple of hours.
The very large Park & ride CP is free. There are proper paths if they have (small kids) bikes & acres of green grass plus a play area including sand pit slides swings etc. Very popular with responsible dog walkers which was a pleasure to see all on leads.
At the Town Centre end we came across (a new?) Memorial gravestone with a tribute to the Airbourne Military Troops who served in the 2nd WW (which I proudly include my Dad!) . After a bracing walk we repaired to the excellent small cafe by the Tennis Courts & enjoyed toasted Tea cakes & a hot cuppa. Recommended.

The last time we visited the park was in the summer, this time we visited after visiting the family after Christmas. Perhaps not surprising the park was very busy and (it seemed) 'off the lead' dogs everywhere which was a bit of a problem as we had a 2 year old with us. However, leaving that aside, the park itself is an excellent place for a stroll with different combinations of paths providing different lengths of walks, shame about the dogs though.
