“NEVER AGAIN”
Reviewed September 9, 2011

I cannot find the words to describe this hotel. One staff on reception, one in the kitchen and one waitress come receptionist. on the first day we were in our fourth room! Terrible condition and filthy, Breakfast on the second day was a joke!. Their excuse, delivery hadn't arrived.

I would rate it the worst that we had ever stayed in. Tried to complain to the manager/duty manager but he never was around.

We had extremely low expectations after seeing the reviews on TripAdvisor. However, we found it to be one of the most interesting hotels we've ever stayed in. The outside is glamorous and even has a red carpet to get in. Chandeliers, decorative chairs and statues everywhere!
However, the rooms were quite shabby. We're used to staying in Travel Lodge so the quality was still much higher.
I am a little confused as to the appalling reviews but perhaps my standards aren't as high?
My suggestion is, give it a go. Apparently the rooms are in the process of being refurbished so should be up to the high quality of the rest of the hotel very soon.
There was an Indian wedding on at the time which made for a very lively atmosphere but really we should have been warned before booking the room. We really didn't mind but people that valued an early night may have had problems sleeping.

Room Tip: Check if they are doing any events at the time of stay.

We booked for one night through Late Rooms. £35 seemed a great deal at such short notice. Well after staying there I'd say that £35 was the most you'd pay, and maybe we should have consulted the reviews first.
Imagine the Crossroads Motel. It was like that but from when they revamped it in the 80's and everybody stopped watching. There only seemed to be one member of staff on duty when we arrived, and I never saw anybody else for the duration of the stay. The room we'd been allocated was so difficult to find - we had to wander through a deserted bar area in the dark to find the corridor on which it was situated.
The room itself was functional but looked tired and dated. No wardrobe, just a rail in an alcove. The curtain rail was broken, and there were no hotel guidlines given, such as when we were allowed to check out. The bathroom was also very tired and dated. It would have been nice to have cold water instead of the tepid horrible stream we got. It wasn't until returning back to the hotel at night that we found that the toilet wouldn't flush properly, which you would think is pretty much an essential. No point complaining though as there was nobody at the reception to help. Wi-Fi is advertised but we couldn't receive it in our room.
The next morning we were knocked awake by room service cleaning at 9:00am. Which is nice. We checked out and the same poor guy from the day before was on the desk - he was the only bright thing about the whole stay, as he was polite and helpful. We didn't risk the morning breakfast as by this time we'd read the reviews on here.
The whole place looks as if they'd starting spending money on brightening up the place at some point in the past, and ran out of money. Shame really.
If you just want a bed, great. Otherwise avoid.

Our first impression of this hotel was that they had begun to do some work on it and it was to be a much better place than what we had read on here. I can put up with a little mess and untidiness but this was overall poor. We walked into the reception area and spilled something which we offered to clear up. We was told not to worry as it woudl be cleared up soon. This was a friday night, by Sunday morning when we thankfully left, it was still in the same place but had been walked into.

The room was very poor. Very tired, cracked tiles, coloured disgusting bathroom suites, everything felt dirty like you wanted to wash your hands upon leaving the hotel. Some of our group had worse rooms than we did. The bar looked very dated, it had one old man in there who was there every night, possibly the only customer and it overall looked spooky. The breakfasts we had were terrible, cold and tasted very cheap, so much so that we brought croissants from a local supermarket for day 2 instead. We were there for a Christmas party. The room this was held in was very dusty, the equipment that the food was served on was dusty and the walls were covered up by large bed sheets with wires coming out of the walls. I could not believe that the party could be held in a room in these conditions and my concern was for our health and safety as well as the level of food hygiene that this place clearly did not have. I have stayed in hotels within this price range before and they have been more comfortable, welcoming and overall better than this one.

This was a never again hotel and we will be lookign for elsewhere for this year.

Room Tip: To get the best room, stay elsewhere!

The reception area has had lots spent on it. and very elaborate chandelier type lights are in abundance here. However the bedrooms are desperately in need of redecoration etc. The bathrooms are very dated (70's coloured suites) and the bedrooms have awful statined ceilings ripped wallpaper and uncomfortable small beds. I understand that the owners have run out of money!!

We stayed about 3 months ago, but ive only just got round to writing a review. The hotel its self is far too over the top with all the chandeliers and the mirrors. Its a bit over whelming.
The rooms were alright, nothing special, althought my friend had a 'referbed room' so i suggest staying i one of them, we were shoved in 416 right at the back of the hotel. Although i have saw worse rooms before.
However we stayerd for 3 nights and on all 3 monrnings we had no hoousekeeping service. we had to ask for towlers every day and when we went for breakfast we were not on the 'breakfast sheet' even tho it had been paid in the room rate. The person serving breakfast was the sam eperson who was on reception, which im sorry is awful staffing. if there was a fire or something there would literlaly be that one person and the chef.

There were two good things about this hotel, The food was lovely. we didnt eat the full restaurant meal. mainly because the restuarant was closed - but we stuck to tehbar menu. compliments to the chef.

The receptionist, a small young girl who was only about 18, Sian i think her name was, was extremely helpful and professional. a good girl for her age. She was sincerely apologetic and done eveyrthing properly.

There were two bar-man, a young lad with blondeish hair - in about his 20's and a middle aged male with black hair whos name was paul. They were a right crack. Got on really well wth them and kept us entertained in the deadly quiet bar.

All in all the hotel isnt te worst hotel ive been to, but it needs some serious work. Strip back all the awful and tacky decor and maybe it might be a nice place.

My friend came up from Christchurch Dorset for my Birthday I recommended the Allesley
We were going to have dinner there on both nights. But on arrival was told it was a quiet time plus they had had a wedding so they had closed the restaurant, but we could have a bar meal. the room was basic took 1/2 hour plus to get the shower gel replaced water was warm not hot. No wardrobe just an alcove with curtain and TWO Hangers. Don,t try emailing General Manager or writing to him because he does not reply!! Try the Village Hotel ------GREAT
