Our party of 6 visited on a Saturday night for a family get together. Table was booked for 7.00pm and on arrival we were shown quickly to a comfortable area near the back of the restaurant. The place itself is quite small but very well decorated, including the toilet facilities which were absolutely spotless and well appointed. After about 10 minutes nobody had returned to our table and we had to collar a passing waiter to request menus and order drinks. Once we had managed to order a round of drinks they quickly appeared and the Cobra lager was excellent. Our starter and main orders were taken. The starters eventually appeared at our table when we had been seated for an hour. They were nicely presented, hot and tasty. On the downside the waiter started to try and clear the starters before we had all finished eating them ! No further service was forthcoming and we had to chase up the mains several times, these appearing at 9.00pm when we had been there for two hours. These were preceded by a waiter making a great show of producing hot plates held with napkins. Shame the plates were only lukewarm as were the hot plates produced at the same time. When the food did appear it was very nice, flavoursome, attractive, tasty and well presented and also value for money.
There was a very active take away service in evidence and during the whole course of our stay a continual stream of people called to collect their orders from the front of the restaurant. Most of these seemed to only have to wait a very short for their food. Whilst this is obviously a testament to the quality and popularity of the fare on offer it would seem to indicate that take away food was being given priority to the detriment of the service offered to the seated diners.
All in all a culinary experience that could have been a lot better. Quality and value for money food, let down by very indifferent service.
