“Better than many at advance price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2010

Stayed with a 4 year old and a baby, paid £39 B&B for a family room in advance then changed to two inter-connected rooms when we arrived, paid an extra £19.50 for this. Rooms were nice, much better than a travelodge or premier inn. Family room would possibly have been a bit cramped, but at that price is still good.

Dinner was alright, nothing special but we couldn't be bothered to go out. Breakfast was really nice, a good buffet and everything was tasty (even the scrambled egg which I find can be very hit and miss on buffets!).

Had a swim in the pool, small but good to kill a bit of time with the kids before our other plans.

Can totally recommend if you get it for the same good rate we did.

Me & my wife stayed here for the weekend, (fri & sat) executive room but on the small side and a little tired looking. I bathrobe for 2 people! Good points were the leisure facilities.
Bad points....
WIFI very expensive
Breakfast.. Had to ask for tea, waitress then brought the tea, however having a cup to drink out of would help!!, we then had to look for a clean cup from other tables, bar expensive, dinner was a joke, waitress asked for our order, so i then ordered for me and my wife, she then asked what my wife wanted !!? Prawn cocktail for starter was a disaster, we had to ask for prawn sauce to give a little taste, main meal, salmon linguini and thai prawn red currie, oh my god 1/10 would be too generous, knicker bocker glory for desert served in a desert dish not a glass? really poor service. At checkout they charged me for morning papers? At Check in they asked if we would like papers, did not say they were chargable? The hotel looks like a tired 70s hotel and really needs a refurb and staff training. Stayed at various Holiday Inns and a priority club member but will give this one a miss next time in Coventry.will stay at Hilton next time probably, at least you know you get a consistent standard at Hilton Hotels.
Not one for complaing at all, but I say it as it is and this is what reviews are for, so other travellers get a fair opinion.

This is a slightly tired 1970s business hotel in the shadow of a giant supermarket and Toys'R'us, next to the M6, at the shabby end of Coventry. It's for business not for pleasure ! The main plus points are the easy walk to the cinema compex and chain restraunts next door, Sky TV in the bar (only), a pretty decent (by Holiday Inn standards) breakfast and evening meal. The rooms are fairly sound proof. They provide night security in the car park (which is needed in this area) and I have had no breakins at this hotel. The car park is free to guests unlike other hotels in the area. There is a Gym with a small acidic pool.

On the down side, the rooms are tiny and out of date (say compared to Holiday Inn Kenilworth), there is no free broadband/WiFi anywhere in the hotel, the room TV is old and has very few channels and no sport, there is never enough staff on the front desk regardless of how quiet it is (although they are less error prone than other H.I. staff in the area), they never seem to give Platinum Priority Club upgrades and there is no pedestrian provision in the car park so be prepared to walk in the road or get muddy.

I only stayed here as the Hilton across the road was fully booked but it was better than i expected.
The breakfast was ok a pretty good selection of food
The Gym isn’t the biggest noir is the pool but they do the job.
As for location it is perfect for me as i only work down the road however is about £15 into the town centre in a taxi if you are interested in the nightlife.

I stay at this hotel for business, the rooms may be small but are ideal. Try and get an executive room on the top floor. The staff are the most accomodating of any hotel you could mention. Food is of a high standard and the overall experience can be described as brilliant. Top staff include Jules on reception, Chris in the restaurant. Dianne in housekeeping. I love staying at this hotel... Because I have very high standards!

Stayed for 1 night whilst in Coventry. Nothing more or less than I expected. Rooms are fairly small but adequate, nice powerful shower. Reception, bar and restaurant areas all clean and pleasant.
The rear car park although managed with a barrier system was unlit.
I would stay again if need be.
