Juxtaposition of the remains of the bombed out Cathedral and the new one is interesting to say the least. Poignant to be able to walk amongst the remains of what was obviously a beautiful old building. The new Cathedral is incredible, the tapestry by John Piper is vast and overlooks the interior. There is also an incredibly glorious stained glass window which fits perfectly with the rest of the design. There was a service going on in a small chapel area whilst we were there, but people were being allowed to walk around and did so respectfully keeping quiet. A building not to be missed, although not suitable for very young children unless well supervised.

The medieval cathedral was destroyed by the fire bombing that destroyed most of the city in WWII. The new cathedral was built next to the old one in the 50s and 60s. The new cathedral is wonderful in its modern way. We were there for services on the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, and it was very meaningful. Due to the bombing, nearly everything in Coventry is new, but that means modern restaurants near the cathedral making the area a great visit.

It's very interesting to see the new and old Cathedral, it's something you don't see very often. I was really fascinated by the ruins of the old Cathedral. The new one was not something exceptional, though.

I really enjoyed looking around the old and new cathedral. The old one is left pretty
Much how it would have looked after the bombing while the new one is modern
But also warm and inviting.
The cafe downstairs was really good. It was decorated for Christmas (on the first of
november?) But that didn't matter, food really good home cooked and plenty of choice.

Thank you for your review of our cathedral and hope that you will visit again in the near future.
We do get many really positive comments about the atmosphere and food in our "Rising Café".

I spent a short while looking around the old cathedral whilst waiting to meet someone.

It was at lunchtime so, it was quite busy.

The atmosphere was so tranquil and a good place to stop for a while.

It is interesting the read the information boards to understand the history of The Cathedral.

The Coventry Cathedral is a wonderful place to visit. You can go up into the tower, the admission fee is £4 and it’s 180 stairs up to the top. The view of Coventry is magnificent. You can also have a walk around the ruins and into the rebuilt church. The new church to me reminded me of churches in America. It had an industrial feel to it. It’s still really nice and has beautiful stained glass - it just wasn’t what I’m used to seeing here. It’s very modern. Everything about this property is worth a visit.

Thank you for your comments on the ruins of the old cathedral and the many things to see in the new one.
The views from the tower are just great for that "Kodak" moment

I have visited the Cathedral many times in the last 40 years, usually with overseas visitors. Without exception they have found it a profound experience. On the latest visit I learned that the £8 admission charge had been removed which may have deterred some visitors historically. So please do visit and I am sure you will be delighted to make a voluntary contribution to the upkeep of this icon of Coventry
