“A real gem”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

A great museum telling the story of Coventry and its industries with excellent displays. The art gallery had a great collection of C19-20 paintings which made me very happy. Researching family history the History Centre were most helpful. With a good café to recharge batteries we ended up spending the whole day at the Herbert and came back for more next day. It's family orientated with lots of activities going on making it very noisy at times!

“Interesting”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The section relating to Coventry's history is interesting but has little regarding the bicycle, motor cycle, car and vehicle industries that made Coventry such a 20th century boom town - and there is no reference to the fact that these aspects are very well covered at the nearby Transport Museum.

The remainder of the Herbert has some interesting art work but gives the impression that there is more to come. It also obviously feels that it has to pull the children in, come what may.

A bit like its website - lacking in some essential information though attractive on first sight. Still worth a visit though (but does it really have to close at 4pm?).

Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

What a fantastic place this is.Just had to visit this place twice during a few days in Coventry. Unbelievable that it is free.It has so much to offer, currently an Alice in Wonderland exhibition with a trail for children a fantastic sensory room, exhibits on fashion over the years, fabulous art, weather exhibitions for children to interact while learning. Great cafe incredibly cheap, good food and great coffee..what more can you ask for? X
