Good hotel, great location for nec, rooms were more than adequate, tv lacking a little on channels and resolution but for how long were there no problem for us. Didn't eat here so can't comment. Did see other reviews before we booked saying it was very cold there so took jumpers and hot water bottles but these were not need as room was hot- maybe a little too much and this coming from me who is always cold it seems! Value for money for what we paid £65 for 2 nights, would go back.

It's pretty grim really, the hotel is just so incredibly ugly from the outside, (I'm glad we arrived at night), none of the interior has been updated since the 60s and even then I think it was second hand. I'd say "you get what you pay for" but even for £35 for the room for the night, you're not getting a bargain.

Unlike some of the other reviews I didn't find our room unclean, just depressing. Everything was very faded and tired, the duvet cover was ripped and the beds were pretty uncomfortable.

The plus points: the shower was surprisingly good though so no complaints there. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

If you're on your way somewhere and need to stop off AND the nearest travel lodge and holiday inns are all full or too expensive, this would be a viable option. But call it your plan d.

All staff nice, but all very young and don't seem really that bothered about anything, never saw a manager or supervisor (could really do with some supervision of the youngsters and the food in the resturant). All in all hotel is in a time warp saying it is tired is an understatement, decor and appearence of everything to do with hotel is in need of an update. Food is as everything else ok (evening dinner in resturant was dispointing). would not say this hotel is really bad as everything is ok but that is as far as you would go, there is not anything you would say was good. However saying that our room was clean (appart from ground in stains). We stayed her for Crufts and yes there were some dogs in the hotel, however this did not cause any problems for anyone and there was no dogs mess anywhere.

Food diabolical. More food was left than was eaten and it was totally inedible. Had to clear tables ourselves to sit down. I cannot understand why National Holidays continue to use this hotel as I am sure it must be affecting their business. The staff do their best but the management appears to be non existent. Food continually running out on the buffet style meals. Waiting for toast whilst the breakfast goes cold. This is just a few examples of how poor it is. The outside looks like Colditz and you truly feel as though you have escaped as you leave!

Room Tip: I will be amazed if there are any!

this was a stop over for a holiday flight next day = the room was so dirty we didn't even get into bed! The sink leaked so every time you washed your hands there was a puddle on the floor! The tiles in the bathroom were filthy dirty and the shower head was mouldy. There was dust in the main part of the bedroom, the windows were so dirty you couldn't see out of them. the soft furnishing were dirty and out dated. The carpet was stained as well.

Just returned from a few days break staying at the Coventry Hill hotel with National Holidays. After reading the reviews on trip advisor we were dreading staying there but on arrival was pleasantly surprised to walk into a clean spacious recption area and be warmly greeted by the staff. Our room (0404) was lovely, yes the wallpaper in places was (slightly) peeling off but no more than in other hotels we've stayed in. It was lovely and clean and very spacious with a colour television, trouser press, kettle and plenty of coffee and milk provided. The linen was clean and white with extra pillows ( not cheap empty saggy ones ) and blankets. The central heating could be controlled easily and soon had the room like a sauna. The ensuite was as good as anywhere else we've stayed although we had a problem with the shower which was promptly rectified the day after whilst we were out. The only down side was the outlook from the bedroom window - but as John Cleese said in Fawlty Towers 'What do you expect to see - The hanging Gardens of Babylon'? The food in the hotel was acceptable and not running in grease as previously reported and entertainment was provided every night. All in all for what we paid it was a bargain and we were more than satisfied. It DOES have it's down sides however with a 99p bar from 6pm to 9pm ( when most guests are having dinner or are too full to drink! ) The only real bad thing was the bar closed at 11pm. This is not acceptable AT ALL. Every hotel we've stayed in ( and living in Blackpool we do know HUNDREDS of hotels ourselves ) the earliest any bar closes is midnight and more than often well after that. It's not the Ritz by any means but it certainly doesn't warrent the damning reports written earlier. The location of the hotel is 3miles out of Coventry on the outskirts of a small village called Allesley so if you're wanting to go into town you'll need to catch a bus. The nearest busstop is a five minute walk. A taxi costs around £8. The nearest pub is quite a long walk and there are only two pubs in the village. The Rainbow pub however is excellant for draught beers and quality food. All in all we had a great time so don't be afraid when you read the other reports - Oh, if you have a problem with dogs be warned dogs ARE allowed in the hotel so don't book in there during Crufts week!

Room Tip: Top floor (8) have smoking rooms.

Should not have been staying here but the Britannia in the city centre was having problems. We were on the 8th floor, which was very noisy due to teenagers who were going to a music festival. The room was ok, but cold as the radiator was not working. Reported it to reception and within 10 mins someone came and fixed it. Bit in the middle of nowhere and no entertainment apart from someone doing karaoke on the first floor. Had Turkey for meal which was good but the Scampi looked more like a burnt offering. At the end of the day for what we had paid could not really complain. Breakfast was ok, staff were pleasant.
