Stayed two nights midweek as on business in Coventry. I was concerned as some of the reviews here seemed very harsh, but I was pleasantly surprised on my arrival. The hotel main building is an 18th century building with oak panelling as u walk into the main building, with many of the original features such as stone window frames still in place. There is a large sweeping staircase leading to the first floor. The bar area is large and spacious. The oak panelling makes it a bit dark, but the building is several hundred years old and not designed with massive large, open plan bright spaces. If u want that, try travel lodge! Our room had been refurbished to a basic, but clean and modern standard. There was free Wi-Fi which worked well in the room. The only complaint was that a speaker for the bar had been fitted below our room (room 7) and u could constantly hear the background music being played downstairs. It was turned off at 10, but a little annoying before that. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. The second night we ate in the bar and the food there was good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. For the price, this is a perfectly reasonable hotel and I would stay again.
