Stayed at the hotel the night before a conference at the hotel. Excellent rooms, Great staff and a wonderful breakfast. All facitlities in tip top condition. My friend who stayed as well joked that she needed a step ladder to get into the bed as they were so good.

This was a trip to celebrate our relationship so we decided to treat ourselves. We had an absolutely fabulous weekend. All the staff provide excellent service and are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We had arrived late and the receptionist informed the restaurant that we would be delayed. We had a leisurely meal with fantastic food and were not rushed at all. The hotel is run by No Ordinary Hotel and the setting and staffing live up to its name. The Garden Room restaurant is excellent and a very picturesque setting to dine in. We found out that they were running 2 wedding receptions, a 60th birthday and a medieval banquet on Saturday night but you would not have guessed that they were so busy. The hotel is moated and is set in the most beautiful gardens and parkland with plenty of walks and a lovely lake with wildfowl. Will be recommending this to all my friends as the ideal romantic getaway.

We stayed at Coombe Abbey overnight for a hen do, the whole experience was a bit hit and miss. The place is beautiful, especially the grounds, and we went to the medieval banquet which was excellent- really good fun, a perfect activity for something like a hen do. Of course the whole thing was very silly but the actors did a great job of creating a fun atmosphere, and of course the mead helped too! (If you are a vegetarian or have other dietary requirements make sure you tell them beforehand as they need to know in advance.) On the downside, the service left a lot to be desired. The hotel was incredibly busy with a wedding and lots of other events on, which probably didn't help, but everything seemed more difficult than it should have been. Check in took ages, and most of our party's rooms were delayed, the garden restaurant couldn't accommodate us for afternoon tea even though we had been told prior that it wouldn't be a problem, so we ended up having bar snacks in the lobby which took forever and the orders were messed up. Once we finally got our rooms, we found that our room, 136, seemed of a much lower standard than the rest of the party, we were supposed to have 'feature rooms' and honestly thought there had been a mix up as this room was pleasant but basic. I asked at reception and they said our room was a feature room because it has a nice view. Perhaps so, but when everyone else who is paying the same rate have much bigger rooms with huge beds and fancy period features, it was a little disappointing. In the morning, breakfast was tasty but disorganised and with big queues as the place was so busy and the staff were rushed off their feet. At check out we were again faced with a big queue, and one of our party was told she had a £200 charge to her room which she knew nothing about- the member of staff said she would 'sort it out' but it's a bit concerning nonetheless.

A surprise weekend spent in the "Lady Craven Suite"

A night in a beautiful dream of a room, elegantly furnished to a very high standard.
Breathtaking views.
Stunning, romantic walks.
Mouthwatering food.
Unbeatable service.
What more could a girl ask for on her Wedding Anniversary?

Thank you to all the staff at Coombe Abbey Hotel.

Room Tip: From what I could see most of the rooms were beautiful but the suite was exceptional.

Impressive location..long drive and beautiful parkland, combined with an impressive ancient moated building, with lots of interesting features...dark wood, sweeping staircases, long corridors, armour, old paintings all combine to provide an interesting and most atmospheric experience.
Room was very comfortable with great views right over the moat. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay, dinner was first class..likewise breakfast.
No problem recommending to others, and would definitely stay again.

What an amazing venue! We has a truly fabulous time at our friends wedding, the service, the food, staff and grounds were all second to none. I would highly recommend Coombe Abbey as a wedding location or for a special occasion - the afternoon tea being served during our stay looked delicious too. Will most certainly visit again.

We should have guessed that we were going to be in for a noisy night when we noticed earplugs placed on the bedside table in our bedroom on our arrival. I know that wedding income is more important than individual guest bookings but it would have been more sensible to place all the wedding guests on the noisier side of the hotel. When I phoned down to complain, the night porter said nothing could be done and I should put in the earplugs until the music was turned off at 1 am. We would not stay again.

Room Tip: Away from the noisy wedding reception area.
