I stayed here with my fiancé in a grand feature room which was located in a newer wing of the building. The room itself was very spacious as we had a staircase which lead to an upstairs room which housed a lovely stand alone bath.

The pros of the room - The bed was an extremely comfortable king sized bed with large pillows that were a delight to sleep on. There were little touches in our room that were pleasant such as fresh fruit, bottled water, brandy in a decanter, a bowl full of sweets, a large selection of tea and coffees, bathrobes and slippers.

The cons of the room - The lime scale on the shower head was not a nice sight to be greeted by and the large curtains and material around the bed were quite dusty.

Another con was when checking in we were given basic directions that lead to us getting lost multiple times and having to track down more staff to give further directions. In a place of this size a map would be a welcome addition. We were also not told what time check out was we had to phone reception in the morning to ask.
However when we phoned down to ask for an iron it was delivered promptly.
All in all it was a pleasant enough stay.

We had a grand feature room for our wedding anniversary and already we are planning which room to stay in next year. The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was an unforgettable one and were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was amazing. We had the most wonderful time and cannot wait to stay there again. I would recommend this hotel to everyone because once you've been there you will fall in love with it. Well done Coombe Abbey and all the wonderful staff.

A great night was had at the festive ABBA party night held in the marquee. Our evening was made special from the start by being escorted to the venue from reception, then when we saw the marquee we were blown away by its size and the beautifully laid tables and awesome Christmas tree. A welcome drink of fizz was presented to us (which was delicious) and the attentive staff when asked if there was an non alcoholic alternative were very accommodating by asking what drink my mum would like and her choice of orange juice was fetched from the bar for her. There was a professional photographer who was friendly but did not push people into purchasing the photos. The host James made everyone welcome and went to each table to find out more about the party goers and seemed genuinely interested in them.
The food was lovely and despite being a large venue it was served quickly and efficiently, although our soup was not as hot as we would have liked, the turkey main course was presented beautifully unlike any Xmas function I have been to in the past and the lemon tart was delicious. The entertainment and disco were good and there was a large dancefloor for a boogie.
However we were extremely disappointed that coffee was not served with the mince pies and at
£39 per head felt that this should have been included, but what was more dissatisfying was that it
could not be purchased at the bar. On leaving we saw the kitchen entrance was near the front of
marquee so how hard would have it have been for someone to have brought some to us.
This would have been a 5 star rating, but the lack of coffee and the unavailability to purchase it
let's them down hence 4 stars only.

For a long time we had said that if we were to get married, it would be at Coombe Abbey, then last year, we saw their Winter Wedding offers on the website and decided to investigate - 3 months later we were married.

We upgraded to the Lady Craven Suite, which is beautiful and well worth the money as a one off. Really couldn't fault much with the day as a whole, food was very good, as was the wine (a gamble as we didn't sample either beforehand).

My husband and I only stayed here one night during our honeymoon, but we wish we had stayed longer! Honestly, one of the most beautiful hotels and grounds I've ever seen. If you are looking for a true English manor experience, stay here. The hotel is situated on the edge of a park and the gardens and lazy river are a feast for the eyes. While viewing the swans in the moat, we even saw rabbits playing in the adjacent garden. It was like a scene out of Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to walk the trails into the park.

Our room was not in the main building, but in a newer wing. The rooms were more modern that I would have liked but the staff made up for it by leaving a bottle of champagne on ice in our room! They also delivered a very nice card congratulating us on our wedding. We had purchased a bed and breakfast package that also included dinner. I must say that it was a GREAT value for the money. The dining room was fantastic and the food was splendid as well. We felt like we were staying in a 5 star hotel but for half the price!

We could have walked around the main hotel (and previous abbey) for an entire day as there was much architecture and original furniture/artwork to look at. I wish that they had an audio tour that we could have done to learn more of the history. Overall, a very romantic hotel and only a 12 minute cab ride from the nearest train station.

What a wonderful way to spend a bleak November Sunday. Welcomed by a smiling & very helpful receptionist we were allocated our room. The feature room (228 I believe) was beyond anything I expected, and can only be described as 'Uber Luxurious'
The Sunday lunch served in the garden rooms was outstanding. Serving probably the the best Roast Beef that both my wfe have ever tasted. The Staff were outstanding and responded to our every need.
Also very pleasantly suprised at how reasonable you restaurant and bar prices are compared to similar establishments.

Thanks for a memorable stay. I am sure it won't be our last visit
