“Hotel That Time Forgot”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Second phase of our trip and stayed at the hotel for hour nights while attending club's dogshow. Review will be honest and simple; Was apprehensive after reading prior guest reviews, and most lived up to them. Hotel had better days and needs LTC to restore it back to its once glory. Our room in particular was spacious, but very outdated and had seen better days. No AC which is an issue for most Americans, spoiled .. Yes, but not an issue for us, simply opened the window. Use to similar situations when we travel in places in the US as well. What I did have a problem was the bed and paper thin pillows. Hotel food was something to be desired, and without a car had limited options. The food at the bar was better, but service was slow. However, the food at our banquet was a surprise and like a different place. The internet was an issue in our room and had to go to the lobby to access it without issues. The hotel was clean for the most part, but there were areas that could have used some extra elbow grease and the grounds a little trimming. However, the staff was friendly, very helpful and accommodating, though not all our friends and individuals traveling with us would say the same. They may have been unstaffed, but they did their best to make up for it and helped with our dogshow when asked.

It was a lovely Hotel very busy .We were on a coach tour and staying for 3 nights . Our room was spotless the view could have been nicer but you only sleep there. Breakfast was buffet with plenty of choice,as was evening meal there was a good choice there also.Surroundings
were very nice especially for weddings as we saw two while we were there.Didn't have any entertainment but that doesn't bother us .All in all first class would go again on our own as good value.

After reading some of the reviews, I was definitely apprehensive about staying here when on a coach trip advertised as being located in a 'luxury' hotel. In fact, it was an adequate, value for money place. Rather regimented in the timings of meals and the absence of table service and printed menus, but there were about eight coachloads of guests this week. Rooms were comfortable, although vacuuming and replenishment of tea bags left a lot to be desired, Food was plentiful enough and palatable, with a limited (but non-vegetarian) choice. Entertainment was repetitive (if you don't like bingo) and the 'cabaret' quality was variable.

After reading the reviews about this place I was prepared for a disastrous few days away with national holidays. To be honest not sure what all the fuss was about, it said "don't stay here" - why? there's nothing wrong with it. Yes the rooms are a bit dated but its a busy place - there were two weddings here, what a beautiful place. Meals were self serve, plenty of choice, and apart from the veg being a bit over done one evening, it was lovely, couldn't fault staff, all very polite and helpful, even a rather loud restaurant manageress walking round asking if everything was ok? Bathroom clean, very powerful shower and plenty of hot water for deep baths. I would definitely come back to the Royal Court. you have to take reviews with a pinch of salt and judge for yourself.

We attended a Wedding at the Royal Court Hotel staying overnight. Having read some of the negative reviews we were pleasantly surprised with our stay. We agree the decor and fittings are a little dated and worn but this was not an issue for us. Check-in was friendly and effortless, room was clean also the bathroom. Bed was comfy and we both had a good nights sleep.Breakfast next morning was very good, plenty of choice and lots of it. We encountered no problems at all and had a very nice Stay.

Having just returned after spending 3 nights I had to write a review............ This hotel has had some BAD reviews and are a MYSTERY as to why as in my opinion they are unfair. My room was clean and tidy and serviced everyday, towels changed and tea/coffee replenished, also extra from reception when asked, we didn't have the best view but I didn't come to stay in the hotel all day I'd come to see the surrounding area. Meal times were on a Buffett self service, hot and plentiful and a different choice each evening and good selection at breakfast. This hotel does need to be tidied up in some areas but this looks to be in hand with maintenance being done discreetly whilst we were there. My only grip was lumpy pillows which was solved with the purchase of some cheap pillows from a well know high street chain whilst out shopping
