Well what can I say - will never stay in this hotel again or for that case use a Britannia Hotel. The room was adequate, quite big but I think they need to retrain their cleaning staff. Dinner on 30th was awful if you had chosen the fish, cheap frozen fish portions. Breakfast New Years Eve was chaos, had to queue and when you got a table it was still covered in dirty plates. Now to New Years Eve, table looked lovely (a plus) food was dreadful, overlooked, cold, indelible. After complaining we were offered a replate of the same awful food (think not). As for the entertainment being good think we must have been at a different hotel. Breakfast next morning, dried up Gammon and Roast Beef (yes folks roast beef!!!!) Needless to say we didn't stop for the third night we went home for some good food and comfort. Don't be fooled by the write up on the website.

I needed a place to stay close to the NEC so I decided to take a chance on this hotel. Single occupancy in a double room for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast with wine £70. The bedroom was clean and roomy but the bathroom needed abit of tlc . There were bits of wood ripped from the sink unit. But still clean.
The staff were friendly and the food was fine could have been abit hotter but for what you are paying it was value for money. As a previous reviewer said its a shame that Britannia Hotels dont take just that little extra effort in the room appearance. They have some lovely hotels and some great offers.

£80 for a family four room, dinner bed and breakfast inc access to leisure and a complimentary bottle of wine. All in an old manor house that used to be owned by a chap who manufactured cars back in the fifties. Sounds too good to be true......well it was! Room was shabby, bathroom suite stained and lavatory looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for years. Carpets threadbare and repaired with gaffer tape. Restaurant was not too bad in terms of decor but the food was up there with my school dinners in the 70's. Overcooked meat left out under hot plates to the point of being fit for nothing other than shoe re soling. Staff were friendly and I congratulate them for working in the scruffiest place I have ever stayed in but still having a smile on their faces. Don't be fooled by the photos and £80 really was too much to pay. Britannia hotels really should be thinking about their reputation and spend some money on bringing the hotel up to at least an acceptable standard. You live and learn.......

Reported to Environmental Health as disgusting dirty hotel, rooms dirty, bedding and mattresses disgusting, in dire need of a complete makeover and thorough clean, staff need training and Management no where to be seen. This is not the first report they have received i would seem.

My partner and decided to spend Christmas here as it was near to my family. It was the first time we had gone away for christmas, the reviews which we read with much humour.
We stayed in the old part, the room yes had peeling wallpaper around the radiator, that's down to drying clothes on there. I agree the hotel does look tired and in need of tlc. Wouldn't your house look tired if you had hundreds of guests wandering through, even drunken wedding parties.
The staff were excellent they worked very very hard, the meals were good value, apart from the Xmas lunch, did taste and look like it had been bought from Iceland. One review on here (larryfredbasil) said the breakfast looked tasted like it had been there for days, honestly I would not know what that looks or tastes like, breakfast was excellent, again staff were very attentive.
My only criticism is the dj if you can call him one, he was boring, very rude at times, miserable.
To sum up its not a 5 star hotel,if you want a 5 star then pay for one instead of complaining about value for money,we would definitely stay here again. You can't please everyone.

Excellent value for money ! What more could one expect on one of Britanias January sale offers, at £50 for dinner bed and breakfast with a bottle of wine included with your dinner for 2. Room was large and warm and better than we expected. If you want posh then pay high prices but if you want value then you won't go far wrong here. Breakfast and dinner was a good standard for the amount of people they have to accomadate.
