As most of the comments below, this hotel falls very short of the De Vere Village standards. The food in the Victory Pub was awful, as was the service. You can see in these pictures of greasy the burger was. Staff at the bar were basically miserable. The rooms are outdated and need refurbished. We stayed at the De Vere Village Solihull a year earlier, and this was no where near as good.

Staff at the Leisure club were excellent, the gym was well equipped. All at De Vere standard.

The following night we ate in the Verve Grill. This was a different experience. Sam, our waiter, was outstanding, as was our bar man,

Dear John H
Thank you for your recent review of the hotel and please rest assured that I have the Tripadvisor app on my phone along with most of my team. We review all feedback from this site as well as our other feedback channels and do our best to ensure that the 5000 guests who stay in our hotel per month have a good time. I am sorry to hear that your experience in the pub was not a good one and I was pleased to hear after your poor experience of the burger in the pub it did not put you off of ordering the same again in the restaurant the night after and it was excellent.
Although are rooms are not as new as the recently built Solihull, we try to maintain them to a very high standard. However our twenty new Upperdeck bedrooms are fantastic and I thoroughly recommend them.
I am pleased you enjoyed the Leisure facilities and hope that you will visit again in the future.
Kind regards
Damian

Booked well ahead for joint pedicure with friend so as we could natter. They then said they couldn't do us together with barely an apology. Four different and lame excuses given - not even an apology that they could have phoned in the morning and saved us a wasted journey. Compensatory goody bag included 2 samples and a spa price list! I was told the manager would phone but still waiting 2 days later...

I went to the village with 6 guys from work and the meeting rooms are great but it all went down hill from then on. The staff are very poor in general and the service matches. The food was terrible and very expensive. Breakfast starts at 7 so not much good if you are working locally

We booked this hotel because it was handy for a 90th family birthday party about a mile away.

We were dealt with efficiently on arrival and we were impressed by the Pool and its facilities in the basement.

We were less impressed by the room overnight, as it was unaccountably over-heated. The radiator was not on and there was no obvious heat source - or any way to alter the heat in the room - other than maybe opening the window. But the temperature outside was around 5C, so this was not an option. We slept badly.

In the morning, breakfast was an experience. Variety was a bit limited, but this is not a luxury hotel so that was acceptable.

But I found mould on a slice of brown bread and took it to a member of staff, who apologised. When I found a second slice with mould on, staff removed all the bread and replaced it. But this should not have happened and I have never known this before - even in Africa.

I also felt that the layout of the breakfast facilities was dangerous, as the buffet from which we collected hot items was positioned so that it was part-blocking the access to the kitchen and kitchen staff bringing hot and cold items had to make their way through the inevitable queue.

The hotel was quite cheap, but I will try somewhere else when I next visit my family in Coventry.

Noisy noisy noisy.
Noise from hen parties followed by a disco on our first night.
Noise from wedding followed by a disco on the second night
Third night just the disco reverberating into our room.
Noise from the echoing corridors all three nights!

Food typical hotel chain fayre.
Reception staff very polite and professional

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor like the plague unless you are actually going to the disco!

We have stayed at the Village hotel on quite a few weekends in the last year or so visiting family in Coventry.
The big no-no at this hotel is the noise. If you're above the bar area it's actually not so bad as the music/bands etc at least stop by midnight. However, there are function rooms as well and sleep is impossible until after 2am, even on the 2nd floor and well away from the function room. The beds even vibrate from the force of the bass. And this isn't a one off. This has been at least one night of every weekend of the 5-6 times we have stayed, and one memorable weekend every night in a row. Starbucks were making a fortune as no-one was able to get up in time for breakfast (as everyone was talking about it in the queue for coffee) and it was ruining people's day trips and ongoing journeys.
So, the pool is great, staff are friendly and the breakfast is plentiful (average quality but absolutely fine for the price you pay for a room). The rooms are fine, they're not huge but they've always been clean and the beds are comfy. OK so they haven't got toiletries (as many reviewers have noted) but I take my own anyway.
The restaurant food is fine but the restaurant has zero atmosphere and is freezing cold so forget it. The pub burgers aren't bad but watch out for Friday night karaoke and bands on a Sunday. Eat earlyish and get out - after that it gets painful, which is a shame as the bar staff are always really friendly and the atmosphere is good otherwise.
The last time we stayed we upgraded to the 'upper deck'. It's £20 more per night but well worth it - the wing is quite separate so you actually get what you've paid for - a room to actually sleep in - unlike the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the upper deck if you want to sleep

Stayed here on business and paid £129 b&b. It wasn't worth the money and I wish I'd booked into the premier inn. The bed was a very small single (room 106) with a view of the flat roof. The bathroom was dated and aside from a hand wash dispenser and an empty dispenser by the shower, no toiletries were supplied. Breakfast was passable but the food choice in the verve grill for dinner was limited, and very average. All in all a very disappointing stay. I won't return.
