Dropped off son at university and stayed three nights--good location for University of Birmingham.
Room pleasant with lovely washroom. No A/C so lots of road noise with window open.
Food terrible both for breakfast and dinner. Poor atmosphere in restaurant. Nice lobby.
Free parking helpful.
Staff helpful but not overly friendly.

Stayed here for the bank holiday weekend on a Groupon Voucher. We could not fault anything for what we paid. Room was clean and pleasent, not a great view at all but we found this rather funny. Food was delicious and staff where very attentive. Shall definatley return. Don't be put off by what the hotel looks like from the outside!!

Had one night stay, gone to a wedding nearby. Not the most attractive building but lovely inside. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Double room bit on the small side but clean and well equipped. Buffet style breakfast was lovely and restaurant staff very attentive. Free parking a well welcome bonus (my brother stayed in a hotel nearby and paid £12.00 to park).

Probably a state of the art building when constructed some while ago, but now showing its age in some places. It is built in the round, so the inside rooms are very cramped for two, with a small window facing other windows and boring concrete.
However the staff - reception and restaurant - are exceptionally helpful and all seemed to care well for their guests. Food, both breakfast and dinner were good and in terms of the offer we had for a two night stay, it would be hard to find better value. We went on from there to a Premier Inn in Manchester the next night. The Strathallen [nb they don't make the Menzies part obvious - locals didn't know the Menzies!] was infinitely better at probably half the price.

Room Tip: Outside has to be better than inside?

I stayed here for 3 nights this week as my husband was rushed into QE Hospital and I wanted to be nearby. The staff could not have been more helpful, arranging taxis, enquiring after him, giving me nice private tables at dinner. The room was only a single but was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast and dinner very good choices and plenty of variety. Would definitely stay again, maybe for Christmas shopping as it's also handy for the Bull Ring.

Had a 2 night stay this past weekend and would definitely go back if the 2 nights bed and full breakfast plus dinner on first night still on offer for £47.50 pp. 3 course dinner chosen from a la carte menu, breakfast is buffet style plus options to have omelette, kippers, etc. Room modern, comfortable, tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits provided. Free parking. Reception and restaurant staff all smiling, friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We got a good deal of two nights bed and breakfast with a dinner on one night for just under £100 which was good value but on arrival the double room was tiny with barely room to walk around it. It was a red hot weekend and the room made me feel claustrophobic instantly. We asked for a bigger room and upgraded for £10 to a larger room classed as an executive room but it had no air conditioning. We stuck it out as at least the windows opened. The hotel had free parking and plenty of pubs etc. close by but was quite a way out of town. I don't think this hotel is as good as others in the chain but you can't really grumble for the price. Staff were pleasant and generally accommodating although breakfast was poor. Staff spent too much time clearing tables and not enough checking that breakfast items were available. Bread ran out and it took ages to be replenished even when asked to do so. Overall it could be a lot better.
