Visited the restaurant at Hogarths with my wife on a Saturday evening. Hogarths hotel has beautiful grounds and its a lovely setting, but was hugely disappointed by everything to do with the restaurant. We were shown to a nice table overlooking the grounds which was a good start. However, the quality of the food was very average for the price being charged. I had a mackerel starter which was nicely prepared, but very bland. For my main I had lamb and my wife cod au vin. My lamb was prepared on what I can only describe as a bed of cold greek salad-the combination simply didn't go.
My wife described her main course as very average and said she could have done much better.
Also, the atmosphere is a little lacking-probably ok if you're over 70 years of age, which most people were.
Finally there was a large wedding going on elsewhere in the hotel, with lots of kids running around and much background noise.
I think Hogarths need to up there game so the restaurant matches the quality of the hotel. Come on you can do much better! Until you do I won't be coming back
