Description: The regenerated Fort Dunlop is home to Duet Cuisine, a restaurant which brings together history and modernity as impressively as its surroundings. Here youll find two well loved cuisines living side by side in an attractive contemporary restaurant. The airy warehouse space is relaxed yet formal enough for a business lunch or a date to impress. Meanwhile that combination menu, created by two internationally acclaimed Chefs, allows for a freedom of choice ideal for when you want Indian but your friend fancies pasta? The extensive a la carte menu includes favourites such as Lasagne Al Forno and Chicken Tikka Balti while a lunch buffet offers both cuisines with a creative twist.

You can have Italian or Indian, great idea! The service was the fastest I have ever seen, we were in and out in under an hour, but we still had time to enjoy the music and the murals painted in the walls. The food is fantastic and the puddings are lush, I recommend the sorbet in orange :)

“Italian or Indian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

I have been to this restaurant many times as I work in the same building but I think it says a lot about a restaurant that makes you want to go bake to your place of work to eat there on your day off. This is a popular restaurant so it is recommended that you prebook your table if planning to eat there over the weekend. The concept is that the menu is Italian and Indian cuisine (Not combined, it's not fusion cooking) so you can have a bruschetta to start with and a curry to follow, or onion Bhaji followed by linguine or stick to an all indian meal or all italian. There is something for everyone and there is great choice for vegetarians too. The site it not particularly becoming but once you are inside this restaurant it's easy to forget the industrial nature of the site (Surrounded on two sides by the Jaguar factory and the Dunlop Goodyear tyre factory) The walls are painted with Asian frescoes in Italian settings for a bit of fun. Staff are friendly and welcoming and always aim to please. There is also plenty of room to have a large event.

“Hidden Treasure”

We visit Duet at least once a month. As a family we have tried many dishes both Indian and Italian and never been disappointed. The service is excellent , extremely friendly and helpful.
Staff are always prepared to help with choice and also to provide slight variations to the meals.
Having visited other Indian restaurants in the area, none come even close to Duet. If you don't know this restaurant search it out it's well worth a visit.

“Great cuisine with consistence.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

I have been here several times now with family and friends. The menu is quite varied with something for everyone but with greater preference towards carnivores! Whilst the steaks and meat dishes are very good, the fish dishes could do with some revamping - I would suggest sea bass or dover sole perhaps. The Indian cuisine is excellent. One of the best things here is that when you select your favourite dishes, they are served with great consistency... so you know what you're getting when you come here. Great place to entertain and have meetings alike. Some better music and lighting would really add to the atmosphere but that's just me being picky. If you like your steak and Indian cuisine, be sure to check out Duet.

“Do you want pasta with your rice?!?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Those with a knowledge of Birmingham's industrial heritage may find it odd going to Fort Dunlop for a meal, but it is well worth doing so if it is to visit to Duet, where India meets Italy in both the decor and food.

I have been many times now, and never been disappointed: it is a favourite of both my son in law and my boss! The menu is huge, with an array of both Indian AND Italian dishes, so there is no need to opt for the safe compromise restaurant in order to satisfy the differing tastes of the members of your party. There are some fusion dishes, but the real beauty of the place is to be able to have different courses emanating from different continents - all but one of our party of six opted to do this, and there were no regrets. I started on the sub-continent, with Tandoori mushrooms, and then went Italian with my main: a generous portion of tender fillet steak in a rich cream sauce with oodles of mushrooms, accompanied by roast potatoes and vegetables.

As always, the food was great, service cheerful and efficient and parking free and plentiful. As so often, the wine could be pricey; we opted for the house red, which was undistinguished, but fine once you started tucking in to your food. Besides, at £130 for six people having drinks, two courses, plus coffees or kulfi, who could not feel that a good time had been had by all?
