Description: Opus Restaurant, in Birmingham’s business district, is a top spot for a business lunch or a schmoozey dinner. The cavernous dining room is a dramatic open space decorated in muted hues. The team at Opus are proud of their modern British menu which showcases locally sourced free range meats and freshly caught fish. Favourites include the Lyme Bay Scallops with Belly of Pork and the Grilled Lobster served with Chips and Garlic Butter. The glamorous waiting staff are super-friendly, and the renowned in-house patisserie gives you a great excuse to have a naughty limoncello-cheesecake ending to your meal. It would be rude not to.

“Xmas Party at Opus”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

First time at Opus. My new company held their Xmas bash there.

We had a private area so I can't comment on the ambience of the restaurant, although it looked pretty chic.

Chose of the Xmas menu. Starter - Mushroom sandwich: Main - Turbot: Pudding - Egg Nogg Creme Brulee.

I'm no food critic so i won't talk bull about complimentary flavours or the pH value of the dishes. However, what I will say is that Opus really does serve great food. The turbot was cooked to perfection and creme brulee is one of the best I've ever had.

Opus deserves it's a reputation as one of B'ham top eating establishments. I've eaten at most of the top restaurants in the area and it's up there with the best.

“Great welcome and service. Slightly disappointing food”
Reviewed December 7, 2012 via mobile

I've been here before and then would have rated everything a 5 but this time it was a bit disappointing. We were a party of 4 and went for the Christmas Market Menu. I had a delicious parsnip, apple and chestnut soup, my partner had salmon fish cake and friends both had a duck leg confit. We all loved our starter. The mains we chose was the Turkey dinner which we all thought was disappointing. The turkey was a bit dry, the roasties weren't crisp. There was also too much meat. Deserts, however were yummy. Christmas pud and egg nog Créme Brûlée. The service was excellent even though they were very busy. The meal was £25 a head which was good value. I would go again but not sure my friends would

“Earnest and market fresh”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I came here for a wine tasting/food matching evening with my mother for her birthday. The waiting staff were attentive and good humoured (rather than the stiff waiting staff you can get at these places) and the decor was lovely: smart and fresh. The event was good value: around £60 each for four courses with wine accompanying every course (and seemingly unlimited top ups). The food was good, if not mind-blowing with highlights such as roasted grey partridge and a delicious poached pear dessert. The head chef David Colcombe came out and announced the courses as part of the event. His ethos is using local, seasonal produce to create daily menus. I look forward to going back and sampling these.

“Go for the food!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Food is truly amazing (& decent vegetarian selection). Great taste, very well presented. The service is excellent. The only drawback is the environment, not a fan of the decor/layout. Too bright and contemporary for the type of cuisine. The seating is a little too close together. Highly recommended in any case
