Good food but surly service from managers has put me off. Will not go again. Large and noisy venue. Easy to find but not a place for me, I expect good manners at service time.

I had the best halibut I have ever eaten, here last night. *But* the service standards have slipped horribly. Same owner and his family are there, but not actually intervening, just chatting to each other. Too many chiefs and not enough indians? Service was completely disjointed, everything took a long time to happen, and extra vegetable I ordered was forgotten, a second glass of wine I ordered was also forgotten. I cut the meal short and left.

£47 for one, two courses, two extra vegetables, one glass of wine.

Be aware, as this is traditional Italian, if you order a meat or fish main course, you need to order vegetables as well. As in Italy, if you just order the meat or fish, they'll just bring you a plate with that on it, and nothing else.

SHame; this used to be the go-to Italian in Brum city centre. Not any more.

Visited for my twenty first birthday meal, they didnt have our booking, had lots of different waiting staff which meant our drinks order got mixed up and some never arrived. The food was okay, one of our party had the salmon ravioli but some of the pieces had some other seafood inside. Overall a disappointing meal for what appears to be an upmarket restaurant.

Had lunch on 12th September 2019
Ordered G & T without ice ; it came with ice
I had whole sea bass as a main; it was overcooked, dry and unappetising.
A small splinter of glass was found on the table; it could not be explained.
Starter and pudding were fine but let down by the rest

The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Doriano the chef even gave up some of his time to see if everything was in order. I have to say the food was also brilliant. we would highly recommend San Carlo.
