I love this cinema so much.
It's got a lot of character and history (I believe it is the oldest working cinema in the UK).
It plays a lot of independent films that you'd struggle to find elsewhere as well as selected blockbusters.
You can choose from standard seats which have been lovingly refurbished or for a little more on the ticket price you can reserve a big squishy leather sofa.
There is a waiter service where you can order drinks and nibbles by text and they are brought to your seat. A great idea. And you settle your tab at the end. The people who work here are always very friendly and welcoming.
The drinks and nibbles list is extensive with lots of great selections from local suppliers.

I'd highly recommend this place for those who want something with more personality than the soulless multiplex.

It's a great night out and very convenient to New Street Station.

Thank Emma V

This tiny cinema is packed full of personality, not to mention comfy seats, interesting films and tasty food options (chorizo bites, tailored cocktails and homemade cupcakes, anyone?). If you are feeling especially fancy it is worth splashing out on one of the sofas - they are a bit pricy at £12ish a ticket but it makes it into much more of an experience for example for a birthday or date etc.

A freind recommended this cinema to us, and I wasn't disappointed!
When you arrive you feel like your stepping back in time which makes coming to this cinema that extra special. Whne you book your ticket you also get unusual tickets which is an added touch! We watched Captain america!
You can purchase alcohol, coookies, nachoes etc so it so much different and to say going to vue cinema. You pick you seats - I recocommend getting the sofas(we didnt but we will next time) so you can tex the staff and they bring you your drinks and snacks to you so you dont miss the film!
Dont miss this ! defo give this a try! and its the oldest cinema in the uk to top the viewing off.

I couldn't wait to visit this cinema when I moved here last year, it being the oldest electric cinema in the country, and I love it's quirky charm, and mix of history and new technology in the 'text waiter' service and sofa seating, which is a great novelty. Love the bar, complete with absinthe fountain, and cocktails created to go along with the films! Also the snacks are much better than the common cinema snacks of popcorn and overpriced pick and mix, with the likes of delicious olives, pretzels and amazing houmous along with slabs of cakes for the sweet toothed, which you can have with coffee which is nice in the afternoon! Great to get one of the sofas for a treat, but book early, they are very popular and ultra comfy. I wait to come here for a film that befits the environment and since I moved to Birmingham have seen The Great Gatsby and The Grand Budapest Hotel here, both of which were fab! Definitely also want to try one of the theme nights, and they also do behind the scenes tours! A fantastic mix of tradition and contemporary.
