“Great concept”
Reviewed November 5, 2007

Great concept. Tiny rooms but very well laid out and modern. Great if you just need a place to sleep. No window but large plasma TV gives you a view of outside if you wish. Good location and value for money too.

Checking In was good (Receptionist explained how the card system works for your room & a 'help' card was also given to me)

Location of the Hotel is excellent
(New Street Station is a 5 minute Walk away)

Although no Breakfast / Eating facilities in the hotel (Apart from vening machines) - The hotel is just opposite a lot of eating places by the canal side.

Rooms although 'very small' are adequate for a 'short overnight' stay for 2. (Providing you have not too many suitcases!)

Shower / Wet Room works well.

42" Plasma TV is Good.

Personal Air-conditioning worked very well.

After deciding that paying a fortune for a lovely room which we spend no time in was not value for money, we decided to give Nitenite a try - especially at a rate of £55 per night.

The rooms are more like ships cabins and are small but it did not feel as claustrophobic as I thought it would. The wetroom door is by far the worst thing about the room - obscure glass and a door that does not close completely mean that you get very familiar with your fellow occupants toilet habits!

The bed is very comfy but again not really ideal for access if there are two of you (midnight gymnastics to get to the loo). However, the room was very clean, TV reception good and general ambience of the hotel was good. There are vending machines to cope with the Midnight Munchies attack.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful although the chambermaids did not speak English so you need to ask reception for further pillows and towels.

Location of the hotel is good for both shopping and for visiting the main event venues (Symphony Hall, Rep theatre) - area felt safe at night too.

Tips - don't do the breakfast in the Swiss cafe/deli - it's bad. £5.95 for a meagre hot/cold buffet which consisted of sausages and bacon and a small selection of cereals, yoghurts, croissants etc. and one cup of coffee. Head into the city for a better deal.

Parking - I was quite annoyed as I rang the hotel asking where the best place was to park and they advised that the Mailbox was the best option. They did inform that there is free on-street parking virtually outside the hotel all day Sunday and from 6pm - 8am every other day but this was not convenient for us (but could save business visitors some ££). The Mailbox car park is £17 a day - a cheaper option is the car park in Brunel Street at £10.80 and this is no further away from the hotel (carry on round the road from the Mailbox and it's on the left). Unsurprisingly I moved the car after one day to the cheaper option.

I would stay in a Nitenite hotel again and think that it's ideal if you just want a bed to crash into at the end of the day and you're on your own.

I really liked this hotel, it's kind of like the Ronseal advert, in that it does exactly what it says on the tin.
As other reviewers have said, the room is small, the only real storage space you have is a small area under the bed. Luckily, I packed light so it wasn't a problem. This is not a place for big samsonites! Pack clever is my advice.
The room was fitted out to a high standard. I loved the bed, very comfy. The wet room was nice and the shower was great.
The TV...this dominates the room and is a real luxury after all the budget TVs I have had in other hotels. The only problem I had was when I switched on the TV in the dark when I woke up... it burned out my retinas... my beautiful eyes!!!!!
I would definately book here again and I WILL be recommending Nitenite to otrher people.

Good points: clean, comfortable, within 5 mins walk of the main shopping area, good price, helpful staff, modern, huge TV, heated mirror in the bathroom which doesn't steam up, well placed ironing rooms.
Bad points: very small (but that is part of the charm), noisy (if you are by the exit), bathroom floor is very cold (bring flipflops), no cupboard space,
Basically, if you are looking for a luxury hotel with large rooms, fluffy dressing gowns, slippers and chocolates on the pillow, you won't like this hotel. But if all you want is a clean, comfortable place to rest your weary body after a hard day of shopping and eating, this place is ideal. I will definitely be coming back.

Oh boy, I couldn't sleep. I don't think this was the hotel's fault though, this was down to me. The room was so quiet and small that I felt like I was sleeping in a padded cell! This is not for the claustrophobic person, but I didn't know I was claustrophobic until it was too late!

The staff are extremely polite and helpful, the little cafe does great toasties and excellent buffet breakfast (£5.95). Sheets on the bed are white, cotton and lovely. Excellent thick mattress, lovely shower and toiletries,TV a bit big. Films would have been expensive to hire at £7.95 or something, but there were a lot of Sky channels so not difficult to find something to watch.

I would say I was glad to have had the experience of Nite Nite but wouldn't stay there again, personal taste. If you like cosy and quiet then you'll probably love it!

I stayed in the NiteNite last month with my sister and two friends. We were in Birmingham for some shopping and a concert.

The NiteNite is a good value boutique hotel. The decor of the hotel is very modern. The rooms are nice altho very small, there is hardly any room to move around at all. The room basically consists of a double bed, a flat screen tv (almost the size of the room itself!) and an ensuite bathroom. This didnt bother me as I was sharing with my sister but I think my two friends who were sharing were a little shocked at the lack of space. As I say, despite the lack of space, the rooms are very modern and clean and I realy liked them. If you are travelling alone or with someone you know very well then I would recommend this hotel.

The location of the hotel is brilliant - around a 5 min walk from the shops in one direction and only 5/10 mins walk from the National Indoor Arena and Broad Street (pubs, clubs and restaurants) in the other.

The staff were nice, very helpful even when got home at 2am a little worse for wear and demanded they make us chips, or at the very least a Pot Noodle (they didn't, didnt have any apparently!)

A nice hotel, great location, great value for money.
