Amazing history, well worth the visit. A fantastic insight into the past way we used to live.
I think a lot depends on which tour guide you got. Ours was a little lacking, but still a fantastic experience.

Brilliant place to visit. Sadly our guide had an over developed sense on his own amusement value often forgetting to show or tell us about things after hinting about them previously. Also had chip on each shoulder - one about Sutton residents the other about Solihull residents. Doled out made up story of Solihull that had no basis in fact. He is all that stopped me giving the Back to Backs full marks. We were lucky as we met people on their second visit who filled in his gaps.

A fascinating example of how real people lived ata a time when Birmingham's population was growing at enormous speed. The house is divided into three different decades, beginning in the first half of the nineteenth century and as you leave, you find yourself in a tailor's shop which has been left exactly as it was when in operation. You do need to book ahead as the tickets are timed and there are quite a few stairs involved but you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide and it will be worth the effort!

What an excellent museum. These are some old back to back houses from Birminghams past which have been lovingly restored. They are small houses all huddled together around a courtyard but there is something very endearing about them. We went on an Open Heritage Day when it was free but after seeing them I would gladly pay to see them again soon.

If you were born 1950's or before these properties bring back a lot of memories. If you were born 60's onwards they are worth a visit if only to see how people used to live.
